Hey folks I need some recommendations on products to clean the exterior slide of my precious MP 9. I have recently noticed a build up that disappears when I swipe but returns shortly after.

I'm not sure what the exterior buildup would be, but I just hose mine down with CLP - exterior and interior - and have had no problems after many thousands of rounds.

Use Hoppes 9 solventinside and out then use a silicone cloth to bring back the finish on the exterior

BTW I have a M&P 45 now and I'm looking hard a t a M&P 9mm Compact for daily carry, how do you like your 9mm?

Carl,

Try a product called "militec-1" metal conditioner. Follow the instructions and you will be amazed with the results....

thanks, you guys have been terrific. In terms of my experience with my MP9, i love it. I put appro. 300 rounds through it with various ammo and it performs like a champ, no misfires, jams, etc. I assume since it's a 9 the recoil is extremeley manageble and really helps you acquire your sights quickly. Very ergonomic, balanced and just solid. I like it so much I'm now looking at the subcompact MP 9 for Conceal carry. Anyone have thoughts on that?

Yes. Go buy it. NOW. You will wear it all day and not even notice that it is there, it is so comfortable.

I find my M&P9c to be easier to conceal than a J frame (IWB) and it carres more than double the ammunition.

Wow, Great to know Wyatt. Your confidence in the firearm speaks volumes!!!

As I am typing this, my MP9c is riding in a Comp Tac Pro Undercover IWB holster, backed up by two spare mags in their double mag carrier. I went out to the store, and haven't taken it off since returning. When I do, it will be because I have changed into my uniform, with my issued MP9 in its duty holster. I love both pistols, the compact is awesome. The full size pistol fits my hand perfectly, much better than the Beretta 92FS it replaced, which I also loved. Get the compact and a good holster, you won't be disappointed.

Hey just wanted to say I took Will B's suugestion and it proved to provide pleasent results. the hoppes 9 solvent worked great and the silicon follow up was icing on the cake. All of the exterior residue is all gone. I owe you one Will B, my MP 9 is back in business!
