Cleaning out the Garage so I can Park a car in it!

Hey guys. I'm doing pretty good. I can now get the zero turn mower in there!! and if I stack it on top...the string trimmer. Somebody is supposed to come buy the glass display case. If that happens... I maybe can get momma's Outback in there. I already moved the gun safe...but will have to get the powder magazine moved. But it only has about 20 lbs in it. And to help things out I am selling about 3,000 pounds of lead. Price is up!!

"Stuff" abhors a vacuum...........

Lets see

Home 28x22 two car garage = 616 sq f
Cabin 12x24 and 16x32 garage bays 288+512 = 800 sq ft
Lake house 28x36 garage = 1008 sq ft

All = to 2424 sq ft. X 47+ years (Dad & me)

Not so long ago 5 cars, John Deere 650 tractor w/ blade, snowblower and wood splitter, 1 RZR SxS, 4 four wheelers plus a 1983 Big Red 3-wheeler (on blocks) finally a 22ft Pontoon boat.

Damn; you'd think that would be enough space...... well I'm downsizing "stuff" and making progress!!!!!!!!

My garage is 24 feet deep x 32 feet wide with two 10' wide x 8' high garage doors. In October my Chevy Colorado becomes the "dump truck" so that 75% of the junk in the garage that hasn't been touched since the garage was built goes to the dump. A 16' boat and a 2018 Chevy Trax (wife's) is inside the garage.

I grew up in a single car garage. Dad gradually added on and when I was in high school he bought a one bedroom house, moved it onto the property and made a garage of it. He always made sure there was room to park a car in the...house.

Our home in the Pittsburgh area had a 3 car garage and we had the car, the suv, and the mg in the garage. Moved to Florida and have a two car garage, but since we went from 3500 sq ft to 1750 sq ft, and no basement, we can only get one car in the garage. and I only have one reloading press. It's on a portable stand so I can reload wherever.

Now days newer homes have 3 or 4 stall garages so homeowner can park one or two vehicles. :D

my house has a built-in 1 car garage, and an oversized detached 2 car garage. I only have 1 car parkedc inside. In my defense, the detached garage has enough spare parts in it to almost be able to build a second car though. :D

We put a tornado shelter in our garage. Talk about tight fit, but two cars still fit.

Forgive me to the "garage pack rats".......

I have so many neighbors who have jam packed their garages with stuff that they will most likely never even use. They can't find anything in there even if they know they need it and even if it's actually in there. When they move away or pass, all the stuff they have accumulated over the years gets thrown into a dumpster or given away. Many times they don't even bother looking for an item they need in the garage, they just buy a new one because it's easier than actually finding it.

So what's the point!!! There is none! If you are not going to actually use items on a somewhat regular basis, if they are not emergency items, sell them, throw them out, give them away!!! USE YOUR GARAGE for your vehicles.

Keeping cars in a garage is the most important thing you can do if you want them to last longer. Everything is out of the sunlight, rain, snow, hail, etc. and they just hold up so much better. There is nothing better on a very rainy or snowy day then to get into your perfectly cleaned car and just drive out. When you return, just pull in and you won't have to clean off snow the next time you venture out. Stay dry when it's pouring out and all the stuff you are bringing into the house will stay dry as well.

Re-claim one of he most useful parts of your home! You will definitely enjoy the benefits!

I have a garage in my house now. First time I have had one in more than 20 years. I just keep walking around in it, marveling at the awesomeness of the space. My gun stuff is in the house, but I have yet to park a car in my garage.

My brother and I built a couple of thousand apartments, about 60 houses and 50 twin-singles. the standard when we built was a 2-car garage (single door) was 19 feet wide and 21 feet long. When we bought the condo, our garage is 19x19! That is 6" shorter than my pick-up! Who on eart changed the standard?

When we moved in from the farmhouse, The Garage was stacked shoulder high with boxes. We moved in on September 11, 2014 and it wasn't until sometime the next July that we could get the car in the garage. I worked at it every week, but putting things away for the first time, requires a lot of thinking and decision making. Judging from society, we have a shortage of brainpower.

Purchase a car cover for your car and keep all that neat stuff.

Possible where you live. Up here we get many feet of snow, serious winter winds and most car covers turn to assorted pieces of fabric. A flapping cover can do a serious beating of a vechicles finish!

For the good weather they are OK but after that if its a decent ride it belongs in a garage preferably under a car cover. Up here that bad weather is at least 6 months.

So glad I have a decent size basement,+ a 2 vechicle under the house and a older 22X22 garage about a 100' behnd the house. In that one I keep seasonable tools, emergency gas and diesel and of course the mandatory junk I realy should take to the transfer station.:D

I have made a fair amount of shot. I made it in the grudge. I put the shot maker on a Black and Decker Workmate... one of the wooden topped ones. Hot Lead and plastic would be a no-no. Even in my infinite stupidity, I figured that one out. I also mounted a P-W 800 shotshell press on a plastic topped one. So you know the things to keep in a crowded garage

Wow. Carry all that to the largest gunshow in your area and sell it like crazy. No shipping or packing involved. Only have 2 sg presses, an old Bair and an identical Pacific, ones 20 ga and ones 12. I'm hoping i can fit my shop machines and reloading stuff into a 30x42 ft quonset and 27 ft Airstream.

I have been going to clean out my garage for the past six years.
Maybe next year since the weather is getting cooler now and I would
like to do this in nice weather.

If any of you are cleaning your garage and run across 22 Hornet brass please let me know
Hornet? Have to check. Don't know whether it went to the auction or not. Have found at least 800 222 Remington all ready to go.. Even primed. Even found a couple boxes of Hornady Remington Jet bullets. And a couple hundred 8mm .318 diameter. Promised to the fellow that bought the Pre War Oberndorf Mauser.
