Just bought a new Model 986. Hopefully UPS will deliver tomorrow. I use various lead removal cloths to remove the carbon deposits on the face of my stainless revolvers. Any special instructions for cleaning Titanium ? Any precautions when cleaning this specific alloy ?

Yes, you are cleaning the coating on the titanium, and you need to lose the abrasives. Also, you need to accept that the coating is going to discolor, and live with it. If you scrub trying to make it look "new", it will deteriorate quickly.

My experience is that ordinary powder solvent, nylon brush, and a little wax afterward are about as good as I can do. It helps that the coating is slick and cleans fairly easily.

OKFC05,
Thank you for the input. I'd hate to screw up a brand new gun.
