I could only see plane crash video. The hero in this case, only problem might be carrying on the job. Lots of employers frown upon this. I wonder if he’s a “head shoot” guy or if a mag dump landed in head and neck.

What did the Bad Guy's expect to get ...

Garbage Trucks don't carry Cash or much of anything valuable !

Yeah ... Lets rob a Garbage truck ... think of all the stuff we can get ???

Not much new on this, but charges are pending for the surviving bandit. A few thoughts: the driver works for a private hauler, not the City, which is one point in favor of continued employment; prosecutions in Cook county are political - they have to advance the State's Attorney's reelection, or at least not provide negative optics; over the past few years local media coverage has shifted to concluding reports of this sort with "the victim has a valid FOID (or CCL)" as shorthand for "no charges". The only way they could know that is if it was part of the statement from police. Also, reporting has tended to make a distinction (subtle, but noticeable) between mutual combat/targeted shootings involving gangs or personal grudges and criminal attacks on citizens.

One factor that I think has helped turn the tide is that our local idiots manage to try to rob or carjack off duty or retired LEOs about once a month, with predictable results. The press had a harder time spinning these as anything but self defense.

Very likely driver will lose his job because his company’s insurance carrier will not want to risk any future liability for this driver or others.
Most people do not realize the power and influence of insurance companies on our everyday lives. More-so than most politicians and the Deep State in many cases.

of Chicago. Two candidates for the Darwin awards tried to hold up a garbage truck driver. One dead, one critical, driver unharmed physically, but time will tell mentally/emotionally.

Concealed carry holder kills 1, injures another thwarting Chicago robbery attempt | FOX 32 Chicago

The article doesn't give the citizen's occupation. The live feed from the scene did.

Now the driver is going to need to hire 3 lawyers. One for criminal defense, one for fighting civil suits, and one for bankruptcy.
I do not envy him.

Glad that the driver prevailed and is alive and healthy. Way too much gangster **** goes on in Chicago every day.
Sadly instead of being hailed as a surviving victim, his life will likely be turned upside down.

If more judges would grow a pair and dismiss the ridiculous civil lawsuits with costs against the complainent, people like this garbageman would need fewer lawyers.

Pause for Caje to arrive and accuse me of trying to put him in the poorhouse.;)

If I recall from my CCW classes, if the shooting is deemed righteous, the shooter is exempt from civil action under Illinois state law.
