Clint Eastwood???

Ret. Insp/Lt Harry Callahan is called out of retirement for assistance in a case that is a "copycat" reappearance of one of his old cases. He assists but in the end it turns out to be someone close to him, whom is spawned from the original perp.

Then, Harry M29's and also Automag's them in the next to the last scene. In a gratuitous and closing epic cinematic ending, Harry passes on his M29 & Automag to a deserving young'un in the SFPD who carries on Harry's legend. Thus giving life to his daughter (Alison Eastwood) or other actors to continue the "Dirty Harriet" or "Son of Dirty Harry" franchise.

I think he's done shooting people. After a couple decades of blowing people away and then not giving it another thought two minutes afterward, he did Unforgiven where death is less entertaining in movies and more final. In Grand Torino he faced the bad guys and knew we all figured the old Clint was back and he'd start shootin'. But that assumption was what he was counting on to surprise us.
I think these movies were Eastwood's version of the Shootist cool and were very thought provoking on how old men would hope to go out.

Oh c'mon y'all. Clints stillgot what it takes to make movies. And since its not just limited to either in front of the camera-or behind it, I have one that would be perfect for him to make.

Id love to see him make a movie about the Battle of Schloss Itter. It happened at wars end and had consisted of an American "force" of 1 Sherman tank from the 12th Armored Division, and 4 infantrymen from the 36th ID riding on the Sherman. They went to the castle--accepted the German Commandants surrender (who was a Major) and a nearby Waffen SS unit decided to attack the castle to kill the prisoners. The German Major assigned his men under the command of the Sherman tank commander-they manned the walls and successfuly defended the castle from Waffen SS attack.

Do you know whats so special about that castle? they had many political and military prisoners there from a few French Generals and GFMS to a French premier and some others. The Waffen SS wanted to kill them off but failed by a timely intervention of a Regiment from the 36th ID who resuced them. The castles defenders were competely out of mmo and the Waffen SS were about to launch another attack.

Anyway, I think ONLY Clint Eastwood could make such a movie--or Mel Gibson? as they would do it historically accurately.

I have fleeting memories of a debacle that Harrison Ford was in having something to do with a crystal skull. Yeah, no more old action hero movies, please. :(

Just last night I happened to watch an old episode of the Highway Patrol show, with Broderick Crawford. There were two motorcyclists who rode into a small town on their Harleys to get a bite to eat,and one of the actors was Clint Eastwood. My God!!What a difference 60 years make!I believe the TV show ran from 1955 to 1959.

My mom had a serious thing for Rowdy Yates. :D

He's already done them, Space Cowboys and Gran Torino. Give the man a break.
Do you want to be working in your late 80s?

I thought Heartbreak Ridge and Gran Torino were embarrassments, full of hoaky, over-used clichés.

His Letters from Iwo Jima was priceless.

Instead of a Model 29, "the most powerful handgun in the world," it would have to be a Model 17... with the hardest to find ammo in the world.

Well Gibson would be perfect as a nazi lol.

He wants to keep working and why not? he's still got a few great stories to tell us. Also, those like James Coburn, Charles Bronson, Gregory Peck, James Stewart, Ernest Borgnine and Eli Wallach--all gave us good stuff till most of them passed away. Thankully,Eli Wallach (who is in his 90s) is still acting.:D

"There's a certain romanticism lost in picturing an aged Clint Eastwood riding over the prairie on a motorized Rascal cart than his trusty steed."

Instead of Bruce Campbell and Ozzie Davis, Clint and Morgan Freeman could re-do "Bubba Ho-Tep" about the ghost of a mummy killing people in an east Texas geriatric home. Clint could be Elvis Presley (as was originally played by Bruce) and Morgan could be JFK (as played by Ozzie Davis in the original). Elvis (played by Bruce/Clint) is impotent and uses a walker and JFK (Ozzie/Morgan) is black and in a wheelchair.

Yeah, I bet he's very fit relative to age; I think he's always looked after himself - he was an elite climber awhile back - 5.9 grade or something - there's a specific grading system for climbers I read. He'd have to think up something relevant to 80 somethings that would be believable for the film.

Just thought of this as I type: if you want to consider an action movie, how about this: Say he plays a retired cop enjoying retirement - playing golf, shooting - which Clint does anyway. A relative of an adversary he put away/shot whatever, say from over 40 years ago decides he's going to get revenge by making the retirement a whole lot less enjoyable before ending the retirement...

This could be a good thriller with lots of scope for suspense, action, flashbacks to a different time and guns etc and a good realistic role for Clint - cops do retire and some criminals DO try and get revenge...

I'm sure there's plenty of retired cops on here; thoughts?

I think he's basically through being in front of the camera. Hell, I don't know how especially thrilled he was about making the last Dirty Harry movie, and that was in 1988. No cops stay on the active payroll from, say, the early '60s till now. 20 years was a successful career, not 50 or 60. The few people his age still getting around could hardly be trusted to protect and serve the average citizen, let alone get paid for it. But I think he knows all this at least as well as anyone else. Never mind his current age, he still knows what is what (tho' that being true WHATEVER possessed him to make that lousy "Trouble With The Curve?") "Gran Torino" would have made a fine last picture. But then he made that garbage. Anther thing about wishing him to return to his "tough guy" genre would be both his current voice and copiously wrinkled form. Those would make seeing him as a badass a lot harder to believe, and he knows that well. Interesting the way he is seen by so many fans as opposed to the way we saw an equally aged George Burns. But then, GB didn't earn his notoriety by gunning people down, or riding a horse. In short, I think Eastwood knows exactly how he feels regarding film making, and after the last Indiana Jones flick I think we'll all feel better about this by re watching Clint's classics, as well as enjoying his upcoming behind the camera features. (Not sure how I'm going to feel about "Jersey Boys" though...)
