Yeah, I've heard the arguments for years that a clip is not a magazine. So tonight I pick up a Savage 93 GL in 22 mag. I open the lid of the cardboard box it came in and on one of the internal compartments was written: Bolt and Clip Inside.

Marlin Camp 45 carbines use clips.

Let me push up my nerd glasses while I insist you use the correct terminology despite the fact that we both know what we're talking about.

Whatever.

It does surprise me that a company would use the term clip.

I would like to present Positive Proof that Colonel Charles Askins Jr., world renowned hunter, sportsman, law officer, fighter, and target shooter was a fake and a fraud.

December 1955 Guns Magazine, page 29. A Shooting Iron Too Hot to Handle.
http://www.gunsmagazine.com/1955issues/G1255.pdf

This article, by his own words, proves my contention.

Page 64, second column. Last sentence in the first full paragraph. >Minor feed troubles developed and the clip was altered about the lips.<

Page 66, 1st column, second full paragraph. >The hybrid shot like a dream! From the first shot through the full clip and for all the thousand first rounds<

Now, since EVERYONE but total newbs and doofuses (dufi?) and fakes KNOWS that that gun uses a DETACHABLE BOX MAGAZINE and not a CLIP, and EVERYONE KNOWS that a CLIP and a MAGAZINE are two distinct and different things, then it is proven here, by his own words, that he did not know a thing about guns.

That just proves that there was someone working there at the time that didn't know the difference...

A magazine holds cartridges that feed into the chamber. A clip holds cartridges that feed into the magazine.

My Garand takes a clip that feeds rounds directly into the chamber. So do my Steyr M 95s, and the Gewehr 88. There are probably others too, but none come to mind immediately.

You guys must have a pretty bad case of cabin fever if you can't think of anything better to discuss/debate than a topic like this. Who cares what you call the darned thing? Never use the dumb things myself, all my S&W's are revolvers!

A clip is what you get when you go to see the Mohel.

I know the difference, and I use the right word, but I'm not going to beat up somebody who asks about the clip for his Glock. I know what he's talking about. There was a time when I didn't know the difference and whoever explained it to me, was kind, and didn't beat me up for it.

I learned to go with the flow years ago, being taught to do so by the best, my wife.

One time she slaughtered the correct terminology on something, I don't even remember what it was,
and when I corrected her she looked at me and said, in a matter of fact way.
I knew what I meant......

That exchange effectively put an end to my anal retentivness when it came to correcting others on terminology.
After all, as long as "I knew what they meant," what difference does it make, really......
