Hello! I just inherited a 642-2 and want to use it for CCW. Well I'm afraid of the locking mechanism failing. I know some people will tell me never happens, some will say it happened, either way I'm really nervous about it ever engaging in a defensive situation. I contacted S&W about it and they said they can't remove the lock and they don't have a trade in program, which is a real bummer. So I'll probably sell my 642-2 after replacing it.
