I feel your pain, I LOVE my M&Ps, but just can't get any additional magazines at a reasonable price. So I'm trying to patiently wait, reminding myself that others are discovering the joy of the M&P line and this is creating a large demand for the product. Sooner or later they will catch up with the demand and I will be able to purchase some additional magazines.

I was in the same boat, buying a full sized 9mm in January. But every week when I would go to the range I would ask if they had any full sized 9mm mags and finally a few weeks ago they did. Just ask every where, someone will have them.

Thing is, I've gotten mags from other manufacturers. Sig, glock, berretta all at least get some in here and there. But nothing from S&W!

I've seen Glock mags at my LGS and the range I belong to but never any S&W. Luckily, not long ago, my LGS had some come in for $29.99 + tax and I was able to grab a couple for myself. You just have to be at the right place at the right time I guess.

I bought 2 9c mags on GunsAmerica for $35 each plus S&H ($9). Check there or GunBroker. On GB there are some available for $50 if you have to have extras immediately. I called S&W and they could/would not give me approx when mags would e available. THey said there was quite a backlog FWIW....

They're in cahoots with that pesky .22lr ammo. Simply gone missing and won't resurface for a while, if ever.

There are plenty of 12 round mags available. The only caveat is you have to buy them as a set. The set includes 2 mags a blue case and a gun. The KC Cabelas had 28 on Mother's Day.

Well, there is my answer. I just joined this forum in part just to ask the simple question: where in the heck can I find magazines?

I bought a full size M&P 9mm several months ago, and for several months I run through a list of online retail sites each and every day looking for magazines. I can find lots for Shields. For Compacts. I can find mags for every size but full size 9mm. For full size 9mm you cannot find a 17 round mag, nor even any of the reduced capacity versions.

I live in CT, so now the mags I buy have to be lower capacity mags to satisfy the current CT ban. I can't find a damned 10 round magazine... anywhere. I've also been looking for an 8 rounder for my Shield since December and I've had no luck in that department, either.

Basically every gun store I've been to has given me a funny look and said "good luck" when searching for these products.

The closest I've come to a mag was when some idiot at a gun store tried to sell me a mag for an M&P 9C claiming it would work with my Shield.

Several months ago I ordered an 8 round mag from S&W for my Shield 9mm. On May 5 they billed by checking account, so I was expecting to receive the mag any day. Couple of days later I check my account and the charge was removed. I called S&W, but all I got was a recording explaining how mags are on back order. Going on three months and still nothing.

I got 8 round Shield 9 magazines from Midway, got FS 40 magazines from Streichers. Still trying to get some FS 9 magazines. Have been on order from S&W since almost forever...

I'm seeing tons of Shield mags in stock at every LGS, but not a single FS or Compact mag. Is MecGar making the Shield mags as well? I think the greatest thing S&W could do is start setting up a production area/facility for magazines and parts so everything is made in-house.

Or let Mec-Gar also make and distribute M&P magazines under their own name to get more on the market.

Thanks for the tip. I'm not even sure if the 8 rounders are legal in CT with the new law, either. They technically extend below the grip, which may or may not be legal. (Gotta love the ambiguity of gun control legislation...)

Either way, I'm getting those 8 rounders. I'll keep an eye on Gunbot/Cabelas. Thank you!

Be patient...I ordered a mag from SW a months ago, just got it. The Customer Service Rep told me they had over 1 million magazines on backorder. I think the entire production side of the firearms industry is doing everything they can plus some to meet demand. Unfortunately some folks take advantage and jack-up prices. The hysteria will subside....soon, I hope. Hang in there
