Fox is far from perfect in their reporting. But I haven't heard or read of Fox claiming the killer was/is a Tea Party member, all I've read, is that ABC made this claim. I would think MSNBC would be quick to fault Fox. Maybe I should "snopes" this one.

I've discovered of late that I get into these threads and I really don't know anything about the subject and my typing finger gets worn out trying to keep up. So given that situation I respectfully bail from the topic. I beg your forgiveness.

Jim

At least you were smart enough to admit you did not know anything about the subject.

There's some documentation on it that was archived here

Occupy Wall Street Names Colorado Massacre Shooter James Holmes as Occupy Black Bloc Member (Part 4 of BM) - Watchwoman on the Wall

Supposedly it was based on a post made on the Occupy Wall Street web forum but it was supposedly taken down after an hour.

Private Investigator Names Colorado Massacre Shooter James Holmes as Occupy Black Bloc Member - YouTube

Yeah, kind of weak documentation on the subject. I haven't seen anything beyond the original post on the loony investigator's website.

If true this would have been blasted all over the TV and radio by now.

Unlike ABC's Brian Ross, going out of his way to implicate the Tea Party, we should wait until the investigation is complete before making any assumptions.

I'm guessing 99.9% of the things discussed in this thread qualify as assumptions and Monday Morning Quarterbacking based on heresay. Unless, of course, there is someone participating in this thread who was in Theater 9 when the attack occurred... or a detective assigned to the case by Aurora PD... ;)

Fox didn't claim he was a Tea Party member. They claimed he was OWS. On Foxnews.com then off Foxnews.com. Magic.

A tragedy for sure, but nothing short of getting into his head before hand could have prevented it. He planned this for months and was deranged. One thing I want to clear up, is that he used an assault rifle. According to the United States Army an assault rifle is fully automatic. He was deranged and evil and we have had and will always have such in a free society.

First off I want to say this was a terrible event and I feel bad for the victims and their family's and friends.

Second, after skimming through this thread I'm glad to see there's not alot of arm chair commandos and Internet badasses claiming they would have tried to take the perp out in a dark *** theatre, with bullets flying, people running for their lives like chickens with their heads cut off, tear gas in the air ect.

Ive browsed another forum, and that seemed to be the case there. IMO in a said situation, carrying or not there's no better option than trying to flee the situation.

No way your gonna stop a threat/nut job like that with given the circumstances.

Quite certain some say the same thing about your pistols too.
This is UNDENIABLY the case.

Back in the late '80s or early '90s, I recall some radio "psychologist" (Dr. Laura?) saying that she'd "ALLOW" us to have "single loading shotguns".

In the '90s, NPR ran a series on "the 2nd Amendment and guns", in which their "PRO-gun" spokesman said that he ONLY owned shotguns, would NEVER own a handgun, and if really pressed, would be willing GIVE UP... his SHOTGUNS.

You just made my point. The word is moot.
It's not moot at all. The intent is to confuse the AR15 at the local gunstore with an M16. In fact, Josh Sugarman actually ADMITTED as much YEARS ago.

I'm not going to let that lie sit, ESPECIALLY when I've seen intelligent people fall prey to it.

Small point in the interest of accuracy - it wasn't Dr. Laura Schlessinger. Listening to her program is a guilty pleasure of mine. She is not an anti.

Sorry to interrupt.

Aw..You are a meany.:( I like bad boys. Wanna go on a date?
Virtually ALL gun control advocacy is CALCULATED to take advantage of the ignorance of the intended audience. The advocates have morals on a par with those of Holocaust deniers and door to door driveway resurfacers. Their goal is to deceive and exploit the ignorant.

In usenet, I used to see the Holocaust deniers AND the gun control hucksters at the SAME time and in the SAME newsgroups. Their tactics were simply indistinguishable.

By admitting your own ignorance, you immunize yourself from the effects of their lies.

My deepest respect for the victims and their relative's. I am shocked.

Wat triggers this off by such idiot? I am afraid that we will never get a good answer on that. It is still pointless.

Has Colorado the deadpenalty? I hope so.

It's possible that she's changed course.

I've heard both Limbaugh and Bill Bennet make some shockingly anti-gun statements in the past. They seem to have done a 180 in the intervening time.

I heard Bill Cristol(sp?) make one yesterday on Fox News Sunday. It was like he was Sarah Brady's hand puppet...

I heard on Fox News this morning that they do, but haven't used it since '71(?).

No doubt there will be the usual suspects trying to garner sympathy for this subhuman piece of filth, if not actually blaming the victims.

Back when there was local talk radio in Cleveland, there was a woman in Middleburg Heights who used to call in who was pen pals with a bunch of serial killers. She was especially into the two NAMBLA members who raped and killed (not necessarily in that order) the Curley kid in Boston(?). She had an incandescent hatred for the kid's parents and claimed they were suing the perpetrators and NAMBLA because they were greedy for money.

The only "people" I find more loathsome than the actual predators in society are their active cheerleading squads.

What model 30-30 is that? Mine keeps having to be reloaded.

The Rifle that coined the phrase that it, (the rifle), could be loaded on Sunday and fired all week long was the old HENRY REPEATING Rifle, known as "That Dam Yankee Rifle" invented in 1860. Originally chambered for 44 rimfire, and shortly later in 44-40. I don't own one, buit I believe they held 14 rounds in the magazine and 1 in the chamber. The highest capacity rifle of the time except for the Gatling Machine Gun.

With no forend wood on these old Henry's, it must have been a bear to hold on to once it was fired and got hot.

Not to change the subject, but the Henry was never chambered in .44-40. The .44-40 cartridge (.44 WCF) didn't come out until the Winchester Model 1873, years after the Henry ceased production.
