I noticed the Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence has a Facebook page. Went to their site. Many posts about how terrible and stupid gun owners are, especially those EEEEVVIILLL NRA members. One Woman had a post with a link to an article that purportedly PROVES guns are never used defensively because a survey of a few hospitals over a short period of time showed very few criminals treated for gunshot wounds. I posted a very polite response in which I stated I noticed there was no mention of how many times a citizen had used a gun defensively but not fired a shot, along with some other salient, but still polite, points. My post was gone in about 5 minutes. Other people had posted pro-gun comments that were not well thought out, and were usually very rude. They were kept visible. I also noticed after my post was removed I could no longer leave comments.
Guess this shows the anti-gun folks don't like opposing views that make sense. But we have to always, in our dissent, remain Gentlemen and Ladies. To do otherwise only serves their purposes of making us look like uneducated, rude hicks.
Lets not do that.

Very interesting. I visited their site for the first time this evening and noticed they frequently used the term "gun activist". They then went on to show a quote made by a person who would have been banned from this forum for such comments. I know dozens of people they would describe as "activist" but fail to see how you could classify them as anything but normal, honest, responsible people who happen to own guns. And of course they dislike (hate) the NRA. It's the only major organization that stands between them and their agenda. I wonder if they (CPGV)have a branch in Vermont. Probably not.

I found that sight the other day. Being against acts of unprovoked gun violence, I liked the page.

Reading through the moderators posts, I'd say about %50 had either a slight or direct anti-gun spin. A couple had very false information and I posted corrections. I got a response from the MOD with a retort. I asked for sources. They kindly provided the source for their belief. One was a D level book from Amazon, one was a badly termed article from Guns and Ammo, coining a semi-auto rifle as an assault rifle, and the other was some anti-gun site covered in falsities. Again I posted corrections, so far those commends have stood.

Reading more and more of the comments on the MOD's posts it was obvious most of those commenting were scared and ignorant of guns in general. Lots of contempt and hatred for guns in general and lots of anti-gun propaganda. And lots of gun nut balls commenting just to scream some iteration of "from my cold dead hands".

Kinda confused on the focus of this page, I posted my own question asking if this was an anti-gun violence site or a site against gun ownership. My post was promptly deleted.

Guess I got my answer I guess. I un-liked the page.

One thing I find encouraging is that the membership to these sites is VERY low, and those that comment are scaring off any increase in membership by their ignorant and emotionally charged comments.

Ahhh yes, that site. I trolled them once. I remember a women saying that she even get a little nervous whenever she sees a police officer with a gun. Really makes me wonder if a lot of them are a few sandwiches short of a picket basket.
