Thought it would be fun to try to put together collector grade pre-war models with their immediate post-war counterparts of similar specifications. First one that pairs up arrived yesterday. Thanks DC.

Another related idea would be the earliest, and
latest, of any model that interested you. The
one that is the longest-running would be a
1902 .38 M&P, and the most current model 10
production. Both would be round butt, and they
form the longest-running production gun in the
companies history.

Thanks, Mike. Actually, I did read it and found it fascinating. It was what made me realize a clear direction to the search was necessary simply because the span of even this one model is boggling. Since I currently have a number of pre-10's, including some transitions, I thought trying to match them with their pre war counterparts, as they relate to barrel length and finish, would be an interesting place to start. Who knows where it goes from there.
