color fill

now before you guys tell me to search for this, i haven't seen a thread on this kind of color fill as of yet.

in researching ways to color fill my 15-22, i came across using crayons, paint pens, sharpies, and white out. now my question is this, can you use white out to color fill on the polymer frame of the 15-22 or should i stick to using crayons?

I think you could use white-out, but I think it would probably be harder to get clean lines just because of the nature of the substance. (And liquid white-out tends to flake in chunks)

I think I have seen it mentioned but that is all. If I am not mistaken you would consider it as "paint" and have to carefully remove it with fine grit sandpaper slowly. Look at

That would be my last choice. It flakes off and some of it is water soluble, even when dry.

this is all what i was thinking myself, was just looking for other input to make my decision easier i guess. think i will just stick to the crayons, and be done with it. thanks for the input guys. as usual you guys are quick to respond, and as helpful as ever.

I used this and it works great, just use mineral oil to wipe off the excess.

good ole fingernail polish in every color you can imagine and clean up with non acetone remover. done.

I have used Crayons on 5 different AR variants with great success and plan to use it on my coming 15-22.

I used this and it works great, just use mineral oil to wipe off the excess.

+1 Ditto with the paint pen.

I began my "clean up" about an hour later just after the paint setup with a "credit card" edge type of plastic. No problems.

I recently did both my 15-22 and my AR and I used model airplane enamel, two coats. Used micro brushes for the fill in and then let it set for 10 minutes. Don't worry too much about staying in the lines, just fill the lettering. Used the thinner on a patch to get the majority of the excess off. Wait about another 10 minutes and use thinner and another patch to get all but the color residue off. Don't wipe too hard or you will wipe the color out of the letters. When you are all done, use a good CLP to get the last of the color off the surface of the gun. I use Froglube and it works very well. Repeat as many times as it takes to make you happy. If you go to my photo album, you can see the results on my 15-22. I am very pleased.

Creamy shoe polish, if they still make the stuff? White is available. It removes easily and applies easily. That said, why do it?
