On Monday (4/13) a couple of gun bills went to committee here in Colorado.

Without going into great detail one bill was for Constitutional carry where a legal gun owner would no longer need a permit to carry concealed. The other bill was to repeal the ban on hi-capacity magazines.

As expected both bills died in committee by a slim margin.Even if the bills advanced and were passed our Governor would've surely vetoed both if a staff member recommended it.

I'm not sure but it is my opinion that committees are stacked with members that are safe in their districts or in their last term. This allows them to continually vote straight party lines without fear.

I have lost faith in the idea that Co. will return to reality. The committees will kill those bills. The ballet initiatives and large number of Druids we have makes me think that we have gone past the tipping point. W. Co. has great scenery but it is getting tough to make a living here now. Texas is looking better all the time!

We need a major reset to return things back to where they should be. I doubt it will happen, though. Our minor victories, with the recent recalls, were inspiring, but it's looking bleak right now.

Even if these bills had survived our worthless governor would have vetoed them. I hope the next go round voters will turn out and put better people in office. It took a long time to have the ccw permits become "shall" issue so long battles are the norm here.

The universal background check is the most onerous of the bunch. It is like Obama care, who cares if it works or not lets just get it passed while the libs have a majority. Even after the Senate recalls they continued to claim that we can't go backwards from here.
If they get the ballet initiative to allow the banning of fracking we will be looking at a coffee shop economy. We have had a bunch of NOT IN MY BACK YARD stoppages of drilling permits over here. We have less than 1/4 of the drilling rigs we had here 5 years ago. If some of those areas can't develop the infrastructure (pipelines) for gas they will never get drilled. We are supposed to believe that tourism in a down economy will save us all.

Email these goofs in Coloado and ask them how long they want to be in office. Then if they say a long time, tell them no way in hell. VOTE FOR TERM LIMITS TO GET THEM OUT ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

We have had term limits in place for over 20 years. The Progressives in Denver, Boulder and Pueblo have seen to it that the likes of a Joe Salazar can ride roughshod over the Constitution as they see fit. When the Repubs put up for governor something like a Bob Beauprez who really is not running, against Hickenlooper and he looses, the results are another 4 years of pathetic state government. The republicans just threw out the state republican chair Ryan Call and replaced him with Steve House. This is a step in the right direction as Ryan Call did NOTHING but toe the establishment line in the last election. Call and his gang were instrumental in seeing to it that Tom Tancredo got nowhere in the governor's race and that Beauprez was the candidate. BTW, Ryan Call and gang would not touch the recall successes of 2 years ago.....Too grass roots for the establishment crowd.

Elections do have consequences......I wonder how many gun owners did not vote?

A majority in both houses and a friendly governor is what we need. The only way to do that is to get out and vote and to get out and encourage friends to vote.

The urban areas quickly outvote the rural areas that I enjoy. Even though I live in a conservative majority area, the Druids in the metro areas are able to out vote us in the House for sure and in the Senate when we are not careful. Such has been the fate of states that have influx from Druid strongholds.
Via the ballet initiative. No leg hold traps. No spring bear season. No hounds or bait for bears. Now we have an uncontrollable surplus of bears that raid urban areas all year long. Their answer, be very careful with your trash.
Marijuana is legal. Have we even come close to a standard of "driving while high"? Heck NO. Just pass what feels good and worry about the down side later. Oh, we can spend the tax money telling people not to do drugs. That will work! This state has so much potential if we could have just worked out an immigration policy!
