I have a friend whose brother had a Colt Agent revolver stolen from his home a year or so ago. He would like to replace the gun as a gift but knows nothing about firearms and I know nothing about Colts. What would a 95% or better blued snubby Agent go for? Just asking you all before going thru the Gunbroker closed auction route to get a ballpark price. Thanks in advance.

Just consulted the Blue Book of Gun Values on line for the most up to date information.

A first issue Colt Agent, manufactured between 1962 - 1972 in 95% condition is worth $500; in 98% condition, it's worth $700. These revolvers will NOT have a shrouded ejector rod.

A second issue Colt Agent, manufactured between 1973 - 1991, which DOES have a shrouded ejector rod, in 95% condition is worth $425; in 98% condition it's worth $525. If it was made in 1982 or later, it might have a matte finish.

TheBlue Book is a good place to start, but sometimes the pricing may be lower than what you find in your area. Gunbroker prices may run high...but at least you have the reference the industry uses...good luck!

The later matte-finish/parkerized guns have rough actions and do not seem to be assembled as well as the earlier guns. The Agent is an out-of-print gun; perhaps a J-frame would be more suitable?
