I have 2 old style AR 15 A2 already (Delta Elite and Gvt Carbine) and I really like them (added an SP1 since).

So when I saw an ad for a 9 mm one in May it triggered my interest, but the price was initially very high, 2600 with a foregrip and an Aimpoint scope. It didn't sell, so the seller lowered the price twice, then removed the Aimpoint and lowered the price some more. I offered 1200 for the rifle with 4 mags and I took it home early June.

It's a 1995 built Sporter Lightweight cal. 9mm-NATO, product code R6430

As you can see it has a fixed buttstock, a 10.5 inch barrel and A1 sights.

Then I took it to the range, loaded 3×32 mags to start with. The gun ran flawlessly, except for one early hiccup with the polymer magazine from Pro Mag. I think I will ditch that one, looks like poor quality. Other two 32 rounds steel mags are from Brownell's, and there's one Colt 20 rounder.

I started with a few 5 shots strings offhand at 25 meters to see where the gun shoots. All were on targets, so I moved the target down to 50 meters with a rest.

Switched to the 20 rounds mag for better clearance over the bags

I then flipped the sight to the smaller aperture.
That seemed to tighten the groups, but raised the P.O.I.

So I tried a lower hold to compensate

Then some offhand shooting, still at 50 meters, with the large then the small aperture

So after some more shooting with the rifle

I decided to put an optic on it. I already had a spare rail.

So I removed the Tasco Pro Point that sits atop my Beretta 92 F

And put it on the AR-15

I hope this will be deadly at 50 meters, maybe even efficient out to 100 meters.

I am glad yours is working well for you. In full auto version, they were available as an issue weapon, and were in use back when I taught at the FLETC.

My biggest complaint with them was that the factory issued 32 round magazines were extreamely sensitive to being "bumped" when fully loaded, and would often spit out 2 or 3 rounds while being carried in a mag carrier.

The three round burst would usually give three rounds, sometimes two, sometimes one. One stage of fire was a 3 round burst while holding the weapon center chest with the stock collapsed, and facing a target at 3 yards. Hard to believe, but some people missed.

Otherwise they were pretty reliable, and easy to shoot well.
