I had one of these early in the production and it had a terrible double action trigger pull. It was OK if you were the type to "stage" the trigger, I am not. I did put about 500 or so rounds thru it and then contacted Colt. They sent me a return label and away it went. I do not remember how long it was gone, but when it was returned to me it was no better than before.I did sell the gun. Today I saw one in the case at a sporting goods shop. I looked it over and did press the trigger thru double action, using my weak hand thumb to stop the hammer from falling thru. I did this about 5 times and did not detect any stacking. I put a hold on the gun for 5 days and came home to "think" about it.
Any comments here? I do have a 617 that has a very smooth double action pull with no stacking or hitches alond the way.

I picked one up this winter and have only had it to the range once. I've been shooting Smiths for about 45 years and like Colt's but I much prefer the action of a Smith. Not that the Colt action is bad, in fact it's very smooth, it's probably just because Smith action is what I'm used to. The fit and finish of the Colt is spectacular, but on that one range trip I did have a bunch of misfires. I am going to get it back to the range at some point and see if I can get it sorted out, if not then it will go back to Colt.

You have the desire to want the Colt but once in hand realize the 617 is a better feeling and shooting gun. They are attractive and well built and finished but the Colt triggers will never be better than the S&W.
