There's this old guy down the road a bit who has a Colt Python 6" SS that he bought in around 1985 with the box and paper work and a leather holster. He also said he shot it maybe 25 times. It is dusty has not shot it in over 10 years has a few scuff other than that great.
Wants me to offer a fair price . I have no idea can use some help.I would like to be fair to the both of use.
Thanks
Mike

If it's bright stainless, they seem to run higher than the satin, and sometimes even a nickel gun.
I agree with MarineAce on price.

Had a chance to take a good look at it today it is regular stainless.Does have the box but he can't find the owners manual. It has pac rubber grips with the Colt name on them.He thinks thats what came with it but he is not sure.Does any one know for sure? He up in his 80's

Thanks Again
P.S. wow what a sweet trigger !!!!!!

Serial number does bear out '85 or so, and it being stainless the rubber stocks are probably correct. Colt did some weird things with stocks sometimes so hard to tell for positive. With correct box and in shape as you mention my opinion worth $1K, fair deal for both of you. You might want to check on the Colt Forum also.

900 is a fair price and the Pachmyer presentation grips are the correct ones with this gun.Congrats on finding such a clean gun..God Bless......Mike

Sold one like it on GB a few months ago. Only difference was wood grips. Went for asking price of $1300 in less than 12 hours. Ask the same question on the Colt forum and you will likely get a little different answer. Pythons are very highly prized by some.

That gun in California that gun would fetch $1200 - $1500. Hard to say about your area.

Buy it - we want photos of you shooting it~~!!

Congratulations~!

The $900 to $1,000 price mentioned seems in the ball park to me. He maybe could get a bit more if he advertised online. However, my impression is that the very sharp increase in prices the past year or two has somewhat leveled off. Maybe it's the economy or maybe everyone really wanting one got one. The six inch barrel is the most common. The standard stainless doesn't really increase value as it does in many handguns. Many, like me, actually prefer the famous Colt Royal blue to standard stainless.
