Colt snubbies

No, they're not +P rated.

I got some different information over on the Colt Forum. In any event, my mid-70's Agent is stoked with Remington Golden Saber +P's as we speak, all six of them. They may eventually loosen the gun, but it's not going to blow up. Probably won't loosen mine in my lifetime, any more than I shoot it.

I have a DS, Cobra and Agent and like them all. Never any problems with them and they are very shootable and accurate. I like the six shots and the fact they can be reloaded with the same speedloaders I use for my S&W K's. I would get at least one.

According to the Colt Safety and Instruction Manual (2002) for the Agent, Cobra, Commando Special, Detective Special, Diamondback, Police Positive, and Viper all these guns are approved for use with +P .38 Special ammunition with the following warning:

"Extensive use of +P 38 Special ammunition will accelerate wear in your revolver. For continued satisfactory performance, have it checked at a Colt authorized Repair Service periodically. Intervals should be every 1000 rounds in aluminum frames and 2000-3000 rounds in steel frames."

I've got a Cobra from 1974.

I'd tote it more if I could find a holster I liked for it. :(

I need to order a PMK from Milt Sparks, but I would rather test drive one before I spend $90 and wait 6 months for it.

I've been using Bianchi minimalist (style 105) holster for my Cobras. The barrel protrudes from the bottom on this model holster which some don't care for. This doubles as a holster for J frames too. They use a rubber O ring to secure the gun in the holster via the hammer if you like to use the option. I much prefer that to to strap n snap. Holster is around $45. It's the Bee Knees.

It's kind of funny to me...I know the 3rd gen looks a bit cooler with the ejector housing and ramp sight, but I still prefer the old school look of the 2nd gen...:)

I wanted a DS for years, but when I finally got one (unfired!) there was something about it I couldn't quite put my finger on that kept it from being a real favourite. Maybe it was the trigger pull, or that weird cutout at the bottom of the grip, or something, but once I got my first J Frame I sold it. It looked awfully nice, though!

Sip, I'm right the opposite, I like the 3rd generation the best. Looks kind of chunky and all business.

No pics to post, but I have a Gen II Dick Special, a Gen II Cobra, A Gen III Cobra, and a late model (1980s) Parkerized Agent with a Colt hammer shroud. I carry that Agent instead of my old J frame now.

.... My earliest memories are of my dad taking it off the china closet and strapping it on his ankle...He's 81 and still carries it that way...:)
Wow. I hope when I'm 81 I'm still flexible enough to use an ankle holster. It's hard enough to bend now.

I sold a DS in .32 NP. (.32 S&W Long) earlier this year. I didn't realize it could be reamed, and safely handle .32 HR Mag. The gun was mechanically perfect but finish challenged. A short frame DS with the Agent grips and Colt hammer shroud is about the best .38 spec (6 shot) out there. I still have a 95% nickle Cobra with shrouded barrel, and a Blue unshrouded Cobra. Both are short frames. I don't collect guns anymore but I have a 10-12 carry gun selection. The Colts are a favorite carry piece. Colts are showing up for sale around here. Not a lot, but more than I've seen since production virtually stopped.
