I am not much of a knife guy but my son convinced me I needed one. This is like the one he carries on duty, Columbia River Knife and Tool Black Fossil.

They make 2 really simple knives called the KISS and the Peck (a little kiss). Between the 2 of the I have ordered around 45 of them for Christmas presents. Both make good money clips also. Ivan

They make good products at decent prices, and they have outstanding customer service, as an example, I once lost the clip off of one of their knife sheaths. It was completely and totally my fault, and I explained that to the customer service rep when I asked how much a replacement clip would cost. Her response was "No charge", but what she sent me was a whole new knife sheath with the clip! They've got a customer for life with me!

Best of luck,

Dave

They're probably good knives, but that one hurts my eyes. Really.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I guess some beholders like that better than some do.

A great many of the modern or "tactical" designs affect me that way... I guess I'm just more into classic looking designs. I also avoid hip-hop and rap and harsh rock music.

But I think the knife will serve you well and am glad that you have one. Ultimately, performance is what counts.

Don't mean to dump on your thread. But when I looked at a CRKT, I turned it over and saw Made in China. I passed.

If I were a cop, I would carry a Benchmade Black Class auto.

They also have excellent service and are made in the USA.;)

If I were a cop, I would carry a Benchmade Black Class auto.

If I were a cop I'd carry a Spyderco Endura. I'm not, but I alternate an Endura with a SOG Flash II for everyday carry. I like the Flash II very well for ease of opening and the drop-point blade, but the Endura is clearly the better-quality knife.

Still, I've looked at some CRKT knives that made favorable impressions--just never needed more knives at the time.

It comes down to taste and budget, doesn't it?

The few CRKT knives I have bought as gifts have been well-received, especially the assisted Ignitor I gave my stepson a couple of years ago. The only one I own is the M21-14SFG. I'll go to it again the next time I need to open a coconut, but otherwise, I am not particularly fond of it. It is well made, and I like the feel of the G10 scales, but the size and the "tactical" look put me off.

I wish my Flash II had the drop point blade, but I suppose the tanto blade was the reason Midway had it on sale so cheap.

My favorite EDC folders are from Benchmade and Kershaw.

This one is now my EDC knife. It does a good job of opening letters, boxes and cleaning my fingernails.
I bought it because I liked the size and feel of it and I liked it's looks. It's kind of pretty.
Excuse the other stuff, I didn't have a pic of just the knife.

The whole "made in China" thing is a sticking point with me, when it comes to knives.
I bought a CRKT Folding Razel to carry and use at work.
It's great, except for the facts that the stainless steel they use doesn't hold an edge very well and it rusts easily.
Other than that, it's great (insert sarcasm).

CRKT is just another "me too" line of tacticool, mall ninja knives.
I wish the Razels were made with good knife steel.
1095 or D2 would have been a huge step up from the soft, semi-stainless steel used.

I'm going back to my 1095 steel Opinel, or one of my old Case or Schrade Barlow or Stockman pattern knives.

Can't go wrong with Opinel, Schrade (the U.S. made stuff) or Case.

Side note: I think Opinel uses 1090 steel, which I've heard is fairly rare in this country. They used to, anyway. But for an inexpensive working knife the Opinel is a fantastic value. I can't tell the difference in edge-holding or ability to take a fine edge between 1090 and 1095.

CRKTs are well built.
Their blade steel is ****, though.
Edge holding is unaccptable.
