Combat custom revolvers

Whitecoyote, that is a very neat Colt Agent. Did you have the work done and second, do you carry or use it?

AJMBLAZER, yes, they are in caliber 35 Remington. I am on the hunt for both versions in .30 Remington. They do get harder and harder to find however. The older one{Model 8} I have had for better than 30 years and it came from a PD shortly after they upgraded arms to M1 carbines.

I remember back in the mid 90's there was a guy who would go to the Grand Rapids Gun Shows who always had a few of them on his table. I was intrigued because I knew about our military weapons but had never seen one of those.
Ah, if I had been smarter I'd have bought one or two from him. Too busy spending money on fast food, my rusty truck, and video games.

I guess this would probably fall into the combat handgun category, RIA .45 ACP, better sights and beaver-tail safety added. Not old, but a really good shooter.

Whitecoyote, WAY COOL, I am even more impressed after reading your link. All of us "old school" guys will have to get together and shoot these "dangerous guns" so we can watch each other and not blow our foot off or something even more dear. On a more serious note we are all aware of the dangers and limitations of certain modifications but damn, they sure are neat.

Thanks for the accolades Joe Kent.
A "dangerous gun" shoot would certainly be a fun time!

I guess you could say this one is "combat modified"

Back in 1967, I put in a target hammer and trigger and made myself a pair of "target grips."
We were in a few squabbles over the years so I guess it might qualify as a combat gun.

That's a 4" Mdl 58.

I may have worn a little off in packin' it around for a few years. *G*

Looks like my 10-8 ex-cop/security/whatever gun. Lots of wear and scratches but all there and solid.

digi-shots, neat posting. Did you see many revolvers in your part of Vietnam? My first partner put two tours there and carried a model 15 the entire time{Air Police}. When he came home and came on the department he switched to a 6in. Model 19. Put in another 30 years protecting us and retired as Chief of Detectives. Hell of a guy and a great shot. We won't tell about the time he was practicing fast draw in front of the TV.

Joe,

The M&P in the photo was brought back to the states by a US Army Captain who served with a MACV unit. He originally got it from a Special Forces Army Major who carried it from the mid 1960's thru the early 1970's.

Joe,
Like you I am a big fan of old Remington Autos.
Have you posted pics of yours up @vintagesemiautorifle.com?
They would love to see those beauties!

Joe will correct me: One of these may be a .30, although not FBI. He just missed out on an FBI 81. The bottom one has an interesing history, though.

For you Txshooter.

My personal photographer comes thru again, the top rifle is a 35 remington Model 81 from a Conn. police agency who even then limited their men to 5 shot mags. The gentleman that I purchased it from passed away before he sent the documentation to me, but it is a Police Officer Equipment modified 81 without a doubt. The lower rifle is a .30 Remington formerly owned and used by the Texas Dept. of Public Safety, the blue inventory card that came with it indicates various Texas Ranger use. Somehow it just seems right when we are discussing early combat guns to include some of the rifles that were used with the revolvers. With any kind of luck we may see some Thompsons and BAR's.

Joe, that's very interesting. I knew that various Rangers favored the M8, but I thought they were all personal purchase guns. The only DPS-marked rifles I've seen that predated the Mini-14 were the 20" Winchester 94s.

AJM, I believe that's a Winchester Self Loading Rifle, either the 1907 in .351 or the 1910 in .401 Winchester.

AJM, James is correct on the rifle pictured upside down. It is a Win. Police Model 1907 in .351 Winchester with a 10 shot mag. James, as an aside, the Model 81 was sold by the state app. 20 years ago with 5 or 6 others like it and app.800 win. and Marlin 30/30 lever actions. I would guess that was when they went to Ruger Mini's.

Let's see if some of the newer forum members have some new additions to the thread.
