First let me introduce myself, my name is Jim Calams I was a Los Angeles police officer for 23 years and have since retired.
I have a second career now as a special needs teacher in the Dallas,Texas area.
My reason writing to you today is about my daughter Stephanie, Stephanie was a teacher in the Richardson ISD school district.
She taught in a title one school which is lower middle class students with only a single parent in the household.
Stephanie was adamant helping these great students, she did this with before and after school tutoring, bought them food, and clothing to make them feel like everyone else .
These students wanted to learn, become successful, Stephanie made that happen for them.
Our precious, beautiful, and talented daughter passed away on July 25,2012, my wife and I are devastated but we are carrying on with Stephanie's passion and legacy to help students in need.
We do this with the foundation in her name, we raise funds nationally throughout our great country and help students all over the United States, and most recently Uganda East Africa where we raised enough funds for school uniforms and books, along with having bathrooms built.
August 5,2017 from 9am to 3pm we are having a Combat Shoot at Gunsite who are graciously helping with our fundraising efforts to help students in The Yavapai County Arizona area with scholarships.
The entry fee that is paid online is $65.00 which includes drinks and food.
Competitors would need to bring 250-300 rounds of ammunition, Gunsite is providing not only the course of fire but their Expert Instructors.
This is for Revolver or Pistol Only, .38 Special and above.
We have a 2 foot tall trophy for first place, many prizes,raffles and a silent auction of a firearm.
Wilson Combat, Kirkpatrick Leather, Double Tap, Wolfe Publishing are some of our sponsors so far, we are looking for more sponsors and donors if you can help?
We are anticipating 70-80 folks at the event, but the more we get, the more fun and much more funding for students in need.
As we do with all of our donors or vendors we would promote you on our website, social media, as well as our banner at the event.
We also Comp any fees for our sponsors or donors at our events, whether it be a golf tournament or a Combat Shoot .
At the end of this I will post our poster of the event, it is also listed online on our website.
