I'm not crazy about the serrated narrow trigger on my 625 Jerry Miculek. I'm not a gunsmith but I may know a couple. Since the MIM parts on the newer guns should be fairly consistent, should a new smooth combat trigger be a drop in without a lot of expertise? Your thoughts? Thanks for the help. Jh

I have long experience shooting 625s and627s in competition shooting. I agree with your dislike of grooved triggers. You could save money by taking a Dremel and grinding the grooves down a bit. A new N-frame trigger should fit in your gun with minimal or no fitting required.

Good luck.

Thanks. I was raised in Iowa by the way.

I had the same issue with the grooved trigger on my 625 JM and picked up smooth trigger and installed with no issues. Just beware of the hand spring on a MIM trigger - it is a bear...

Did you order the .312" MIM current trigger or the forged .312" smooth combat trigger that became standard ~1986?

If your gun is pre MIM parts, you have a better chance of a drop in fit with a pre MIM trigger.

Hey Hondo-It's a 625-8 with MIM parts so I ordered a .312 MIM smooth trigger from Brownells. It should be here next week.

Thanks for your help. Jh

Bravo!

MIM parts are so precise, they are known for being able to 'drop in' and not need fitting.

It's interesting to me that the MIM part I ordered is blued so it looks like a case hardened piece. But it is MIM and specifically mentions in the description from S&W that it fits the 625. Part SKU is 940-220-360 and it is a .400 trigger not a .312. Just hoping it's an easy fix. Jh

UPDATE- Well it's not as easy as I thought. The trigger from Brownells/S&W is different than the one in the gun. I'll let you that have more knowledge than me look at the attached photo. The Brownells trigger is going back and the original trigger is being smoothed to remove the grooves. The gun was pretty dry so it's getting a clean/lube while it's apart.

Nice work on the trigger face. Have you noticed if it improves you handling?

Kevin

Previously the trigger had some sharp serrations. It was painfully uncomfortable if shooting fast or a lot. It is very comfortable now. The internals were cleaned up and lubed while it was apart. I'm looking forward to a longer range visit this week. I anticipate it will be a lot more fun than before. First impressions are very positive.
