The wonderful cable/internet/NBC megalith know as COMCAST and its Xfinity service decided they would re-arrange the channels to 'make the most efficient use of bandwidth on our Xfinity platform' starting this month. I have Xfinity set-top boxes which are only a little over a year old. Everything was normally fine, except for secondary box freezing up about once per week which required me to power cycle it.

Xfinity trucks were on my street in late May tinkering with the big green signal booster boxes mounted on the utility poles. As soon as they were done, I lost nearly twenty HD channels I pay for, including the Pittsburgh NBC HD channel (I had to watch the Stanley Cup Finals in standard definition. Arrgh!)

I've talked to the Comcast "service" representatives and their only response was to re-flash my equipment several times. Did not help. The only way I can get this fixed is to PAY for a service call! What the heck, there was NO problem until they monkeyed with the system and channel line-up. So, to get my HD channels back. I have to pay $59.59 for the guy to come, then $19.95 for every 15 minutes over a half hour they spend at my house.
The only other option they gave was to completely re-cable the inside of my home, replace the splitters and the cable from the pole into the house-then if I still have a problem, they will consider it an "outage " for my house and make a free call.

Over $200 per month for this? I HATE COMCAST!!!

They dropped my RFD TV!
Us country boys need those ag, tractor, horse and Country Music shows.
My comcast actually works well.
My internet speed was recently increased.
It sounds like you are having a signal delivery problem.
It could be the system outside your house or your house, or both.
What is happening in nearby neighbor's houses?
If it's a Comcast system situation, they should be experiencing it too.
What would Skeeter do?
I would swap out all my Comcast boxes.
My rant - they charge too frigging much!

Just my opinion but the large communication companies are putting the screws to all of us! Phones,Internet, and tv are way overpriced with NO customer service. Lead the list of customer complaints and should be broken up and perhaps then might be more customer oriented.

can i get an amen to that?

I must have the only Comcast service provider that works. I just hate the $152 monthly bill.

Wifey bought an HD tv just before Super Bowl. I pay $130 per month PERIOD , she pays the balance, and I don't have any problems.

I'm included in your post, add $50.00 to your price.:D

Changed over (upgrade)Comcast (Xfinity X1) the very best for the last 6 months, of course there is a pricetag attached.

Can't remember the last time I've lost internet or TV service, everything is fine.

I would guess I have been with Comcast for easily the last 30+ years and I'm sticken with em.;)

The two rivals here are DirecTV and Time/Warner. We have used both. Three years ago DirecTV had a great deal on a bundle that we jumped on.

Land line (for pacemaker), internet/WiFi and three boxes (we are raising three grandkids).

We are pleased with the product, the price and the customer service. With any contact we have with them, it seems like they are really trying to please and that goes a long way with us.

I agree. DirecTV has great customer service and a huge selection of programming. Even if you don't switch to them, you can use the threat of switching to get Comcast to fix your problems for free. Because DirecTV is available anywhere, Comcast knows you can follow through with your threat if you choose to do so. I've done this with DirecTV. When some of my old equipment started acting up, and DirecTV wanted to charge me for upgrading, I simply told them that I could easily get the same stuff free if I switched to Verizon FIOS, which I already had in my home for internet and phone. DirecTV immediately sent new equipment at no charge.

I'd call Comcast/Xfinity and tell them that you expect to have your service restored to its previous state at no charge, otherwise, it's helloo, DirecTV! You've got nothing to lose.

The only thing I don't like about my comcast is that we can look through 200 + channels and not find a thing on worth watching. But I guess that's universal.

The one time we had a real problem, they sent a guy over He fixed it. No charge.

Nothing to Watch??

Heck, tune into some the Spanish channel soap operas!

No idea what they are saying, but man some hot action going on. The News is also entertaining:D:D;);)

You need customer service to get you in touch with someone else. Do not take no for an answer. If the techs messed up the signal and you lost channels that you were paying for, then they should not have ever charged you for the service call. Tell them you will call the BBB and your local officials. You are owed a refund. They set the equipment to start with. If it's not working because they made changes outside then they didn't set it up right to start with. Xfinity does have an escalation department and that's who you need No more CSRs. As you have found they are useless. But once you get to the right people They will do everything to "make it right". When you talk to them use that term. Be prepared for some long waits on the phone. But it will be worth it in the end.

Dump them. Get a HD antenna. Then subscribe to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon or all three.

Got rid of Directv two months ago. Don't miss at all.

10 things you need to know about Digital TV Antennas

I am in a local HDTV dead zone. Over 30 miles from every network affiliate in a town nestled between rolling hills, so digital TV really screwded me.

Spent nearly an hour with Comcast customer loyalty, or whatever their online "I hate my service" receiving reps are called. Like teaching a corpulent Communist pig to sing, my efforts to get satisfactory help were in vain. I'm so screwed because we NEED Communistcast internet since it is the only broadband available. They know that. My online chat today ended with " I'm sorry you are less than totally satisfied with your Xfinity service experience, please feel free to call 1-800 XXX XXXX and express your dissatisfaction." Spent an hour on hold before I gave up.

Had terrible experiences with Comcast and especially their incompetent techs for years, got fed up and switched to Verizon. I've since decided that Verizon is absolutely the worst big company website I have ever had the ulcers to look at. I curse them, I damn them, I rhetorically strangle them after I rack them, for links that go in circles, for more ad space than work space, for unexplained crashes, for placing the selling of wireless **** over all other services we buy, (we have the whole bundle) for selling their email service to AOL, making me go to worthless, airhead, ad-laden AOL to get my email, for customer service reps who don't know squat about the system and speak like valley girls in a dramatic machine gun whisper, for dropping me after I click the "keep me logged in" box, for forgetting me after I click the "remember me" box, for making me log in four or five times before I get to the screen I need, for selling me a FIOS interface box with a weak power supply that's insufficient to keep the backup battery charged; for designing the worthless box circuitry such that the system won't run without a fully charged battery....aarrrrggghhhh.

Don't make me tell you how they took my 2001 BMW car phone, a wonderful, clear, simple phone with a great display and sound, an integrated part of the voice recognition driven radio/navigation/telephone system, and disabled it and the whole voice recognition system forever when I asked for a phone for my wife.
Dirty, rotten *&*(^%$^&@Ps.

I looked into Direct TV, but my biggest, best tree is in the way of the feed.
Tree wins, easily, even though both Verizon and Comcast rank below any other company I've dealt with. (way lower than the Marianas Trench)

I just wish we could a la cart the channels we want to watch. I could dump about 100 channels. Price probably wouldn't go down.

Only 100? I could dump a lot more than that.

I did a little experiment with Chromecast Ultra yesterday. Totally worthless to me.

When I went to Mexico earlier this year I made sure NEVER to miss the weather forecast on all the channels running the news. Believe it or not, it was my FIANCE who said I should take a look. I guess the look on my face the first time was priceless.

Those complaining about Comcast have never had to deal with the shysters at Cox in the Las Vegas area. :( Dropped those idiots last year as there unwilling to send techs to do work when I would be available. Vacation time is arranged with the blessing of my boss, not some customer service brain donor.
