Was in court for motion day this morning and had a client charged with obscenity. He was peeing behind a building. Anyway I was trying to get the charge reduced fo peeing in public which is now a crime in Louisiana (used to be that if caught the only thing they could charge you with was obscenity whinh is a sex reporting crime and sometimes you got a DA that wouldn't reduce to DP-so the legislature passed a bill to make is specifically illegal to pee in public). Anyway I digest.
So we were doing the Preliminary Hearing and I was reviewing the police report and according to the reporting LEO my client was "behind the building with his pennies clearly visible at which time he was arrested." I agreed to waive live testimony and let the report speak for itself regarding probable cause......
Pled him out to peeing in public :D

Then the next one I pick up has the victim suffering from "all timers".
Oh well.........live from the front lines of the criminal justice system ;).

Too funny Counselor! Quoting you " Anyway I digest." Don't you mean: "I digress"?

I have reached a verdict, $25 dollar fine to be paid to the local PBA. :):):):):):)

If'n he don't get no client he won't have nuttin to digest.
Over the years, when I was much younger and having to drive 200 miles a day in Houston, I kept an attorney alive with my traffic tickets.
All he required was the cost of the ticket--about $95 at the time--and a see ya.
Never paid one and none went on the records--at least 3 a year for a good number of years.
Always something wrong with the paperwork.
Blessings

Shouldn't the case have been dismissed?

Having your pennies out and visible in public is not illegal???

You could have argued that "Pennies" are legal tender, for all debts public and private...

I hear there's a pill for that, too.

CAJUNLAWYER, other than a Severely wanting pay check, its' stories like yours thank saw me through that last couple of years on the job. There is nothing in the world as funny as off the wall cop, fireman, attorney humor.

Every morning I review the previous nights incident and conduct reports, I keep telling my staff there is spell check on the computer and anything you write may end up in court.

Like the sheriff's deputy in Georgia that pulled me over, handed me his ticket book and said"Here, boy, write what I tell ya"...
