Before I get a[nother] Wrong Forum warning, let me say that this is not a reloading question, or a WTB question. I want to know if anyone is aware of a source for loaded .44 Magnum LSWC ammunition that hits the desirable, non-gun-punishing 950-1000 fps velocity range? I looked at Georgia Arms, Parabellum Research, and other places, but Google keyword searches turn up hits to forum discussions about how nice this load is -- but no hints as to where a non-handloader could find it ready made. If it's so dang good, and I believe it is, why doesn't anyone load it? Thanks.

The load you are asking about is, in fact a good practice load. For many years I have loaded a cast 240 grn SWC under a charge of Red Dot for pleasant, accurate loads at about 925fps.

Cheaper Than Dirt carries "Bitteroot Valley" brand ammunition. They offer a 44 mag load with a 240 grn SWC, at about 1000fps, I believe. Their 44 spl load, 240 grn SWC at 825fps is accurate in several of my 44 spl single actions, and the prices are not bad, relatively speaking.

Thing is, for the price of 4 or 5 boxes of shells, you could purchase an inexpensive single stage Lee loading set up, along with the basic components you need to load your own, and save a lot in the long run, as well as be able to tailor your loads to exactly what you want.

Thanks, Fishin'. BVAC, right? I heard their stuff was dirty, but it's worth a try. I get the reloading point, too.

Parabellum Research loads LSWC to about 1100. It's not so much punishment to me I'm thinking of, but punishment to the gun. I'd shoot .44 Special in it, but there's the carbon buildup thing.

Thanks very much. If there are others, I hope someone will chime in.
