Commie Bebop

While I am of the opinion one can be a left of center loyal american to a right of center loyal american... In FAIRNESS I can see where some of his anti-american pro communist rhetoric comes from.

ONE, well they WON the cold war didn't they. He is just joining those who rushed out to buy Cubs and Patriots jerseys AFTER they won.

TWO, the great HUMANITARIAN efforts the Soviets engaged in, Poland 1940, Ukraine Bulgaria Lithuania Romania et al in 1944-45, Berlin 1953, Budapest 1956, Prague 1968, Afganistan 1979.

THREE, his view is shared by those who flooded FROM WEST BERLIN TO EAST, in 1961 forcing the D Democratic R to build a WALL to keep them out. Those thousands who FLOODED out of Miami to sail TO CUBA in 1980, and who still make that jorney south in spte of the risks. The tide of humanity that SNUCK INTO CZECHOSLOVAKIA in 1989 to cross the border INTO EAST GERMANY. Oh I remember how stirring it was hearing M Gorby say "tear down the west side throughway".

I take a certain amount of malicious amount of satisfaction in that he's West Point, not ROTC. When someone says that he is an advocate of Marx and Lenin I subtract 50 points from their IQ. And he's 50 years behind the times, it's coming up on 26 years since the "Socialist Motherland" went into the "dustbin of history."

I recall reading an an interview with Carol Burnett, when she complained to a younger TV producer about the quality of TV programming, he told her we've had a couple generations grow up watching TV-"They don't know life, they only know it at one remove."
I won't have him under me as an enlisted man. But that's how they should deal with him.

In Viet-Nam, I always put the malcontents "on point" during patrols in "indian" country.
Solved the problem.

Indeed, it solved the malcontent problem. New guys to my platoon learned real fast that if they got out of line they would be in front at the next opportunity for me to dend them there. When a new guy was assigned to a fire team the team leader would warn them that the Gunny was a bull and if you mess up you will get the horn. It was an amazingly effective way to keep the lid on the platoon.

Sorry, but I find it hard to believe NOBODY thought this guy was wierd.

Guess that's why there's a 2-man policy on nukes...

Rolling Stone magazine had a piece on West Point cadets a few
years back.

Quite a few cadets freely admitted (with names included in the article) that the only reason they were there was to get a free engineering degree. They said they'd do their obligated time and get out, and had zero interest in serving in the Army.

First I am in no way condoning this flakes actions, but to the above. Explain how this is any different from a kid enlisting for vocational trains, GI Bill, and a good resume starter? As long as they pull their weight and fulfill the deal, officer or enlisted. Not everyone who serves is a career guy.

You are correct. The vast majority of people who were enlisted or commissioned never intended to make it a career.

It is not clear whether the 2LT was motivated by a desire to be relieved or not. Regardless of intent he did something that offended many service members. That is no reason to punish him. The only issue in my mind is whether his actions violated the UCMJ. I think it did, but I was infantry not JAG.

.

Coming from that part of the world ....at that time of WW2 most of those countries deserved what they got. Just one battle on the Eastern front had on the axis side....

400,000+ Germans,
220,000 Italians,
200,000 Hungarians,
143,296 Romanians

This looks to me like a guy who got a West Point education and
wants to skate on his obligation. If he gets drummed out he will
have hero status with the Left. I'm going to guess the guy is not
dumb, reguardless of his motives he must figure there will be no
prison time involved. The system has been weakened over the
years. The MCJ has gone the same way as our civilian laws with
reguard to sentencing. The bright side of all this type stuff is it
is getting so over the top that it is going to backfire on them.
If he gets court martialed, then discharged, he's on the hook financially for the entire education at the USMA. That doesn't get erased by bankruptcy, and the cost could run to maybe $200K.

The thing I find scary, concerning and troubling is that non of his classmates or teachers had any problem with him quoting/openly endorsing marxist/communist ideology, especially a murderous pig like Che'.

You don't have to worry about that. There is no evidence that the Army knew about this or that any of this, including the pictures from his graduation last spring, were public or posted anywhere before last week, when he put them out there in support of Kaepernick. So you can probably cancel your visions of him quoting Marxist ideology in front of classmates and teachers.

It's also interesting (one has to dig a bit to find this info), that he apparently served as an enlisted soldier, completed Airborne and Air Assault school at Ft. Benning, and saw combat in Afghanistan; he was assigned to the 1st Ranger Btn in Savannah before his appointment to West Point. I found the attached photo showing him after completing basic at Ft. Benning in 2010. (Warning: No guarantees. It's the internet. But it appears legit)

A really odd duck. If he is for real, something must have happened to flip his brain.

I agree with those that feel that this is an overt attempt on his part to take his education and run without fulfilling his commitment to the service.

This started IMHO, when dodge ball was stopped and we began giving out participation trophies. We are raising a bunch of folks that are not capable of dealing with real life. Just take the easy way out and you will still get a reward.

We reap what we sow......

I dunno how easy a tour in Afghanistan is! You? Doesn't sound like it's an easy way out of anything.

As been said before. can't get the free education without completing service
