Common Sense Self Defense.

I find it sad that we have to have this conversation. I find it even sadder that a segment of our society has such a low self esteem they believe it's necessary to shoot someone over a perceived slight. I don't know where or when wanton violence became an acceptable answer to every problem.

Brother it's been this way since the dawn of man.

It's better to be smart than violent. Alas, people are selfish and they have always been willing to exert their larger size/force to get their way. Many (I wish it were just some) are too lazy to improve themselves so, they get what they want through force.

+1 to this and these days it's not just physical force, some of them are using litigation.

My strategy when confronted by threatening creeps is to look as humble as possible and apologize for whatever transgression I am being accused of. I want to clearly establish myself as the innocent person in the eyes of any possible witnesses. The last few times I've done this the thug will talk himself out. For example last Christmas I was driving down a city street with my daughter who is an attorney and my 16 year old grandson who is second Dan black belt in a highly effective and lethal martial art when a wild eyed guy on a bicycle who appeared to be psychotic or on something like pcp rode up to my open window at a stop light and was screaming threats. I had no way to drive out of the situation. While preparing to break his arm if he tried to reach in my car I groveled. It worked. Nobody got hurt and I didn't have to deploy my grandson. My daughter was amazed at how calm I was but having spent most of my adult life on a locked psychiatric Ward I am used to threats.
