Miami gun show coming up this week, & I will be looking for a Gen 3 compact 45. A 4516-2, 457, or CS45, but I hate the bobbed hammer. In a different post, I asked about using a 645, or 4506 hammer, but will a hammer from any Gen 3 gun work? 9mm, 40SW, etc. Also, while I realize the CS45 is the smallest, is a 4516-2 the same size as a 457? Thanks for any info. GARY

My 4506 has a spurrless hammer from a 6906 in it. Swap the hammer struts and GTG.

I have made the switch many times but usually its putting a bobbed hammer in place of the spurred one. Nothing to it :D

Thanks. For $45 I'll wait until I actually find a gun to buy. But I'd buy a cheap used one that someone has sitting in a drawer just to have for when I do find a compact 45. GARY

There are some on the Flea Bay as well, any third gen should work, half cock notch or without, just the strut that's critical.

Yes and they use the same magazines. The 457 is lighter. It has an aluminum frame. There were some manufacturing short cuts taken and a few plastic parts substituted for steel to keep down the cost of 457s. The top corners were not machined off their slides so they have a boxy look. If you want the lighter weight and recoil that goes with it add the 4513 to your list. The earliest 4513s had a shorter grip and held one less round. Later ones use 457/4516 seven round mags.
