I have a year old 9mm Compact with the Apex duty/carry kit, front night sight and textured backstrap. Lately I've been thinking of selling it to fund a full size 9.

Well today I took it for one last dance and my mind has changed. It's a great shooter, can't imagine any real gain from a practical standpoint to get rid of it. Fits my hand great, 12 rounds of Gold Dots work for me. Carrys great, it's staying put.

I may just have to save up for a full size to add........or not.

I triple dog dare ya. I have all 3 flavors. M&P 9 ,Shield,C ,FS. go for it. Get the range kit, comes with 3 magazines holster Uplula loader, double magazine pouch. You will love it.

Save up and buy a full size 40, then get you an aftermarket 9mm barrel & some 9mm mags, then you have two guns in one...or 3 in 1 if you can find and buy the elusive .357Sig barrel too!

You read my mind. That's my plan, just taking a little longer than I want.

I just went through the same thing, I never shot my 9c very well, sent it back and they installed a new barrel, didn't make much difference so I decided to move on and sold it now I'm looking for a good deal on a FS9. My Shield isn't going anywhere and hopefully the full size will shoot better than the 9c.

Nah, not much of a .40 fan, tried them in the past-Sig 229 w/both .40 & .357 as well as a Glock 23.

I'm good with my Baer 1911 in .45 & the M&P 9. Trying to cut down on calibers not add lol. You guys sound like enablers to me, must...resist...

Just kidding, thanks and have a great weekend!

I was never a fan of 40 S&W. I tried for a year to make friends with it before I traded it for my 9c. I love my 9c and don't regret the trade at all. I put the duty carry kit in and added the polymer trigger. I love how it shoots (it was not bad before the mods. way better after though) and it is very accurate. As a matter of fact it is the gun that made my husband decide that all plastic guns are not evil. He now owns a 9c, a 5" Pro and a C.O.R.E. lol

S&W Fan,

An obvious option is to borrow from a friend or rent at a range, a FS9mm and see how you shoot with it. In every platform I've tried that (old Detonics, Officers Model, Commander, 1911A1, Glock 26/19/17, 30/21 etc.) I shoot the larger models better at longer range.

If you CCW and your body frame, dress, etc. determine if you can conceal one better than another. A factor for some in light of recent oppressive legislation may due better with a smaller model, since the advantage of a large frame and same magazine capacity might be a push.

Good luck, enjoy your choices! YMMV

I love my compact. My most recent revelation is how good the Remora is. I didn't like it at first but I am finding it to be my most comfortable holster (pending new belt and pants purchase, my old jeans are shrinking.) I wouldn't mind getting a 45 FS...

What got me thinking about this was trying a friend's full size after an advanced class. Then, as in my first post, I ran some drills with the compact and I did just as well. A friend that's with a nearby agency makes holsters, made me a really nice owb rig, and while it's not as easy to conceal as my Baer TRS I can definitely conceal it during cooler weather.

I'll repeat myself, it's a great pistol and just might add a full size because I'm a big fan of the an M&P line.

I agree in the sense that the compact can most definitely hold its own. In fact with x grips and a 17 round mag, it *almost* doesn't make sense as much as owning a shield and wanting an FS would. Personally I would love an FS but I would definitely choose a different caliber to further justify the purchase. I would love to have a 45 acp full size
