Sold my m&p 15-22 to get the m&p 40.
I'm wanting to get a laser sight that isn't too bulky
And fits under the barely nicely.

I'll suggest the Streamlight TLR-3 and TLR-4. Both under $140. There also the Viridian brand of compact lights/lasers. These are over $200.

My first suggestion would be the Crimson Trace (CTC) Railmaster series...They have a few variations and after trying them out I like them.

Another option would be the Lasermax Uni-Max lasers...They work pretty well and I've used a modified green version with good results.

Of course, the above assumes you REALLY want an under-barrel/rail-mounted laser. I have and prefer the CTC Lasergrips as the best option out there right now.

I have used the Streamlight TLR-2 on an M&P 9mm and it worked very well. I like being able to control the light and laser together and with the Contour switch this gives other systems a run for their money (yes...Surefire makes the X400 with DG option, and it's awesome, but it's also WAY more expensive than a TLR-2 with contour switch). I also put it on my HK USP 45 thinking it would work well...It did not... The recoil from the 45 made it impossible to maintain consistency in holding down the switch, and since there is no contour switch option for the HK (as there would be for your M&P) I took it off.

If you have to have a laser, this is correct. Unless you're a lefty. If you're a lefty then the CT Lasergrips are completely useless. Then you have to have an under barrel type. For lefties the CT Laserguard is the best solution.

I would suggest the crimson trace on the grip then you don't have to
have a special holster I know you said under the barrel but I have them on my M&Pc9 love em.

I considered getting CT grips for my Glock 20 and 21. I heard of lot of complaints about having to re-align the lasers almost constantly. I've considered getting them for my M&P 40 and M&P shield 40 but I'm concerned about having to always re-adjust the lasers. I'm wondering if this is largely because of the increased recoil of the 45 and 10mm. Does anyone have any experience using the laser grips with the 40 caliber? Do they stay on target or do they also require constant adjustment?

What about the Viridian C5L? Compact but expensive. I have been looking at this for my 9c.

I have the Crimson Trace laser grips on my M&P 40c and so far they have been perfect. I sighted them in when I first got the handgun and after 200 or so shots, they are still perfectly on targer. Another advantage of the CT laser grips is that they don't interfere with your holster if you carry your handgun, or if you want to add a WML you still have your rail free to mount your light.
