Companion Carbines

I thought having a companion carbine would be neat. No particular reason. I went looking for a 357 to go with my 686.

I ended up finding, at a very good price, a Marlin 1894 in 44 mag. Straight wrist stock, JM stamped, pre-safety. So I did what any reasonable person would do. I went looking for a 629. Ended up getting a 629-3 5" Classic DX.

Still waiting to find a matching Marlin 357 at a reasonable price.

Two of these are PCCs. Just below the Savage 99 is a Rossi 1892 in .45 Colt that I had slicked up by Kiowa Nate Jones. Great carbine.

The number three down carbine is a JM Marlin 1894C in .357 Magnum. It was my first PCC.

I also have a Ruger 9mm take down, as well as a 9mm AR9 that began life as a braced pistol, but has now been converted to rifle status with the addition of a 16" barrel and stock in anticipation of the new infringement coming from ATF. The original 9mm pistol barrel now rides on a virgin AR15 pistol lower with a magazine insert and no brace.

Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt paired with an Winchester 1873 (repro).
Glock 26.5 with 9mm AR. Appreciate the ability to use the same 10-33 rd mags.

One of the best companion carbines to the .357 revolver is the Ruger 77/357, light weight at 5.5 pounds, reliable, detachable magazine, and can be easily scoped if desired. I've had one for about seven years now, and have several .357 revolvers to accompany it in the field.

50 yard accuracy with jacketed 158 grain hand loads, fired from the prone position:

I will keep the rifle with iron sights only for now, might put a scope on it as my eyes age. Right now I enjoy the light weight and trim package of the rifle with no scope.....

Put a nice little Weaver 1-3x20 scope on mine..... 1X for walking in Penn's Woods 3X for the small fields of W Pa. Also have a little pouch for an extra mag on the belt. Pairs nicely with my 3" 60-10, 3" 66 or a 4"686
