I have 2 chambers of my 586 no dash revolver, that don't quite carry up. I am looking for a new hand. Several of the S&W replacement hands that I see advertised, are listed for 586-3 revolvers. Will those hands fit my no dash 586?

The part number is 210630000 for oversized hand, and 210620000 for standard replacement part.

I did order a new oversized hand. I have heard of people heating and bending the tip of the old hand, for more cylinder advancement. A little bend goes a long way. A quick fix. I may try it. If it doesn't work out, I have a new hand on the way anyhow.

The best way to bend one is to make a piece of steel plate with a .002 step in it, either milled or filed. Just the top part of the hand hangs over the low part. Drill clearance holes for the pins on the hand to hang down in. Clamp the hand and plate in a vise. Heat up the top of the hand and hammer it lightly into the .002 depression. Let it cool and use.

Protocall, I followed your directions, and it resolved my issue. A little bend goes a long way. After bending, I had to stone a little off the top edge, as the cylinder locked up too early, tying up the gun. A few stroked did it. All chambers now lock up well before full cock, both SA and DA.
