I picked up a 625-3 at a really good price and I noticed a stacking of of the trigger pull at the very end of travel. I thought at first the hand was causing this as with the cylinder open and holding back the latch it disappeared. I just took it apart and noticed the wonky floating hand and a search turned up a thread here from 2010 that stated this was the cause of the stacking. I’ve worked on quite a few of my older S&Ws but this is the first time I’ve seen this. I did get the pin out of the trigger and a K frame hand I had fits in the trigger hole so that is the same. I just need to get a N frame hand and fit it. I have a 629-4 mountain gun and it has a hand just like the old revolvers. Appears they did this for a short period of time? Any input would be appreciated.

The floating hand seems to have a glitch in the middle of the stroke. If the tightness is at the end of the pull, as the cylinder stop engages, that is the hand ratchet bind (I've heard it called a wedge): the floating part is not the culprit, but too wide a hand. I replace all floating hands with the standard one!
