Concealed Carry

My main carry is the 3913 with the Hogue grips in a K&D Thunderbird Defender holster. I just received the holster on December 23rd and am not used to the IWB way of carrying yet. In other words, my pants are not loose enough.

The advertised weight of a M&Pc 9mm with no magazine is 21.7 oz.

The advertised weight of a 3913LS is 24.8 oz, but it doesn't say if that is with or without a magazine.

Even if the 3913 mag weighed 3 ozs, which I doubt its that heavy, the M&P is still lighter.

When I had the M&P9c I couldn't understand why, with a polymer lower, the gun shouldn't be lighter than a 3913. It sure felt heavier, and top-heavy too. That makes for a good range gun, but not good for a carry gun. So I weighed the two guns on a postal scale and came up with this:

3913 24.5 oz + 9 rounds 28.5 oz
M&P9c 24.0 oz + 13 rounds 30.0 oz

The polymer gun isn't actually heavier, but it sure isn't lighter either. I should have weighed just the uppers of the two guns because now I'm curious. Anyone have a postal scale and can weigh the upper (slide/barrel/guide rod/spring) of the M&P9c?

You know, Scott. I have that same exact thing happen with my pants not loose enough too - happens every December. What's with that?

I absolutely love my S&W 908 and have my eye on a 908s. I got a deal on my gun, and will likely have to pay twice the price for the 908s.

sox fan, holster maker Ken Null lives in Resaca, GA. I have thought of visiting him for a custom holster for my 908 and 422/622/2206 handguns. Would you be interested in one?
