I own a Model 4596. Since less than 400 of these were made, holsters have been difficult to find. The pancake holster made by Strong that I've used for years is getting pretty worn and I'd like to replace it. Can anyone suggest a source?

What is a 4596? I don't think I have heard of one

4596s were Lew Horton guns; a one-time production run of less than 400 units. If my recollection is correct, they were cobbled together from a 4506 receiver and a 4516 slide. Eight plus one rounds, 3-inch barrel, square trigger guard. It is a really great, smooth-shooting pistol with no bad habits. I carried mine as a duty weapon for twelve years. My only complaint is that it is heavy.

You could see if a custom holster maker and make one for you

Do you have any pictures of the 4596?

I'm having a terrible time figuring out how to post a new picture of my 4596, but will do it as soon as I figure it out. I have put some photos of the pistol on this site earlier. Meanwhile, if you use the "search" function, I think you can find them.

Thanks for your help and interest.

I don't see why a holster made for a 4516 with square trigger guard wouldn't work as a holster for you. My custom holster maker of choice is Andrews Leather. If you give Sam a call, I am sure he can work up something for you.

@Lostman, any luck finding out which holster works the best for a 4596? I have one as well and not sure if I should be looking for a 4506 holster or a 4516.

The problem isn't finding 4506 and 4516 holsters but finding them for the early squared trigger guard versions.
