Congressman, aide, police shot in attack in DC

Happened on a baseball field where Republican members of Congress were practicing for a charity game in Alexandria Virginia this morning.

Shooter had rifle, appears minimal security detail had pistols. Lots of details to follow.

Congressman Steve Scalise was wounded in the hip, he is the majority whip. Two Capitol police, an aide and the shooter were wounded.

No motive given yet.

I've been watching this ever since it broke on Fox News earlier this morning. Not sure if this is taboo on the forum. Just going to keep watching, developing story.

Just heard NM's finest, Rep. Steve Pierce who was at the practice.
Steve said it was terrifying and confusing.
They need to practice on a Military or other Federal Facility.

Capitol Police officer apparently, after the shooting started, demanded the shooter drop his weapon. She was then shot. Very courageous, not sure if she survived but one of the Congressmen said she kept defending them after being shot.

Sen Paul credits the Capitol Police security detail for Rep. Scalise with saving them. Several congressmen have said things like "we were sitting ducks" and "we weren't able to defend ourselves".
