MT Helo and I had a discussion on this subject. One sees consec serial numbered Colts . Did Smith simply not offer that as a common option?

I know they did do them.

I have a pair of 29-2s so serial numbered.

Frank,
Not everyone likes serial numbers

I like serial numbers, and not always consecutive. I also like displaying and discussing my serial numbers

Of these 3 Model 17s and 3 Model 25s. There is a sequential pair of each model. What is even cooler, at least for me, is that the consecutive numbers are the same in each model. In other words of the Model 17s are serial number 0050 and 0051, the Model 25s are also serial number 0050 and 0051:)

These six revolvers represent one of each variation of 8 shot Model 27 that has ever been produced. All six have the same serial number with different prefixes

While I do not have a photo of them together, I have a triple consecutive set of HK USP Elite autoloaders

A old acquaintance of mine was a Big Colt Distributor. When something new came in he let me look through the serial numbers. When the Colt Double Eagle 10MM First Editions came out in 1992, I looked through the inventory and took serial numbers 737, 747 & 757

I have about half a dozen firearms whose serial number is my birthday.

I have others where the serial is the cartridge.

My 625 Lite Hunter chambered in 45 Long Colt is serial numbered CLT0045.

My 50 BMG surgical rifle is serial number 0050.

My Thunder Ranch Revovler Model 22 is serial number TRR022

My Deluxe Model 544 chambered in 44-40 is serial number 44

You could order consecutively serial numbered pairs of handguns from S&W at extra cost (usually $5.00 per gun), but it was not an advertised option. I have in my collection the first pair of 44 Magnums shipped with consecutive serial numbers on July 12, 1956 and owned a pair of Model 57s with consecutive serial numbers. S&Ws that letter as being shipped with consecutive serial numbers are quite rare.

I have a pair of 638's with consecutive serial numbers.
They were not ordered that way, it just happened.
When I asked my FFL about it, he said he had never seen it before.

I have a pair of Ashland Shooter Supply Special order Model 60-1's. Serial numbers are ALU0795 & ALU0796. They have an adjustable rear sight and High Ramp Front Sight. The dealer I bought them from purchased them on August 2, 1985. He said he had to pay extra for the consecutively number pair. Product Code 102305 Spl Order 5190, qty 660. When he showed them to me they were still wrapped up in the original wrapping paper, he had never unwrapped them

I am guessing that one of those serial numbers is a typo since that is not a consecutive pair

Simply by way of observation....

Pistol in the factory are generally run in numerical order.... Not a big deal.

Just to illustrate... Years ago, I ordered approx. 30 S&W 4566 pistols, on a P.D. order.

Every single one was in numerical order.

Not by request, simply S&W filling the order.

I never saw the appeal... But, whatever floats someone's boat.

Thank you gentleman. my entire career with the MT Highway Patrol I was badge #237. I did once get a new SIG 229 with 237 as the last three digits. Appreciate the input.
