Consolidating Ammo

Handloading for everything in the inventory, except .22 LR, I made myself a "deal" several years ago that there would be no additional projectile diameters in the firearm inventory. Thus additional firearms could be added as long as it did not require a new bullet inventory be introduced and maintained, and, to a lesser extent powders too. This "deal" actually allowed significantly more leeway than anticipated for both rifles and handguns and failed to achieve any reduction in the accumulation rate for firearms but did stop the expansion of bullet storage space (a little) and the space for powder storage (a little).

Not long ago some .38 Super brass was delivered to me by mistake. Rather than return it I bought a Model 1911 chambered in .38 Super as I did not have a .38 Super. After all; everything else needed to get going on reloading .38 Super was already on-hand save dies. Great logic; however I'd wager this is not a unique situation. Anyone else ever do something like this?

By the way I really like my .38 Super.
