I had a nice Colt Commando with original plastic grips that I got for a song ($275 out the door) that had a nice reblue done but lots of pitting I sold for $800. Came with a marked up brown colt python box (no foam insert) labeled for a 4” blue model.

I thought about selling that box on ebay but decided I was gonna fill that box with a Python.

Was about to buy a new one when my FFL calls with a 99% early 80s blue 4” Python. I know these are going for a pretty penny so said how much expecting something north of $2500
He came up with $1600 out the door! DEAL!

I had to go to the bank on that one and drained my savings a bit but for the price of a new one I got an original and couldn’t pass it up.

Sounds like we are all guilty of this sin. The last gun I purchased was one of the new pythons. Couldn’t resist it at $800 and the trigger is starting to grow on me. But back to old habits tomorrow when I’ll be doing the paperwork on a Mass. State Police 3” 65-2 I found on Saturday!

The Colt versus S&W has always been a thing for 150 years.

It is interesting depending on your perspective. Just like Cadillac and Buick versus Chevrolet.

From my grandfather and father’s perspective; Colt was the premium brand like Cadillac and Buick.

While I'm primarily a S&W guy, I do like Colts too. (y)
