I have a full size M&P 40 S&W that was a police trade-in. It is in excellent condition. Has anyone here tried a Wilson Combat 9MM barrel in a M&P? I have found a site selling Storm Lake conversion barrels, but I am not sure of the quality of their barrels. Any info appreciated?

I've added a competition sear and I'm waiting on an Apex trigger to arrive.

Storm Lake

I have put several Storm Lake barrels in M&Ps with good results. It wouldn't surprise me if Wilson bought his barrels from Storm Lake. He doesn't make all the parts he uses. He can order to his specs.

Although many have used a regular 9mm barrel in a .40 without any problems I would recommend a dedicated .40 to 9mm conversion barrel. You might call KKM Precision and see what they have available. I have always received top notch customer service from them.

The barrel hoods are different widths at the LCI. A 9mm will fit in a .40 slide with a little play. As said above, for range use, plinking, etc., an OEM 9mm barrel (usually the cheapest option) works well enough. A conversion barrel has the correct width for the .40 slide.

I have a Storm Lake non-ported for my 5" core. They made good barrels. I say "made" as Storm Lake was under Remington when they filed for bankruptcy. I'm not sure they have resurfaced yet. The few places I've looked for Storm Lake all show out of stock.

KKM is good to go.

I have used several Storm Lake barrels, including a 40 to 9mm conversion barrel, never had a bit of trouble with any of them.

I bought a 40-9 Storm Lake conversion barrel for my buddy's M&P 40FS. Have not heard any complaints and would also prefer a conversion barrel vs. stock 9 in a 40 slide.

Have purchased numerous Storm Lake barrels for my M&P 45s. Stock was very accurate, but the Storm Lake barrel definitely improved on what was already good.

For my M&P 40 FS V1.0 I have two barrels, A Storm Lake 40SW to 9mm conversion barrel and a factory 9mm barrel. Both have worked 100% of the time. I bought the conversion because it is threaded and because it was on sale at a HUGE discount. Can't speak for any other manufacturers.

Well I for one am annoyed to read your post about your "excellent condition" M&P because I think I know where you got it, and I passed on getting one myself.
