Browsing a popular firearms and accessories retailer based in Germany, I found this gem. It is called a 686 Universal and it appears to be a purpose built silhouette gun. The six inch barrel and removable barrel weights are quite trick. The revolver is not specifically identified as from the performance center, yet that is what the stamp on the left side of the frame looks like to me.

Here is the link:
S&W 686 Universal (Kaliber .357 Mag.) von Smith & Wesson - Revolver - Kurzwaffen - Waffen - Frankonia.de

The neat thing is that this is only twice the price of a Glock 34!!! (in Germany that is)

The mention in the text of .44 Magnum availability and the smooth target trigger suggest to me that this might be a variant of the 629 instead of the 686.

Here it was sold as PC Competitor and as PC Hunter. The only difference that I notice is that PC Competitor has a picatinny rail rather than weaver rail pictured on the Universal. PC Hunter has the same rail as the Universal but no cuts in the underlug and magna ports (see pic of mine below).

You can still find Competitors and Hunters on GB or AuctionArms every now and then.

I think when they are speaking of .357 Mag and .44 Mag they are referring to S&W and their development. I have never heard of the 629 in .357 Mag.

The 686 pictured is quite different than the revolver above. Look at the rear sight assembly. This is a strange piece indeed...

To my eyes it just looks like a PC gun with an add on rear sight assembly. I would hazard a guess that it may be a gun that an overseas shop has dolled up some.

Domestically sold PC Competitors (at least some of them) have the same rear sight
