So I started Highschool in 1999. As a young freshmen, I did not have many friends. However over 4 years I closely befriended my schools police resource officer.

He taught me how to shoot, to fish....how to talk to chick's haha was kind of a stand-in dad to me.
When I graduated he presented me with a gift. A 1988 6906 with FCDA stamped on it *he worked for a district attorney before he was a SRO*. He had carried it since new, until 2002 when the pd switched to Glock 17s. He stated it would bring me home safe every day as it had done for him.

Well in 2005 it was stolen. Never saw it again. Until last month.....found it in the case at my LGS!!!. Showed the shop owner a photo of me and Terry the day he gave it to me, and told him the story. He promptly handed it back to me, free of charge and stated it should be returned because on my hip is where it belonged.

17 years later the gun I learned to shoot on, the gun that was given to me by my teen mentor, thr gun i searched high and low for almost 2 decades for....and the gun that I will give to my son one day came home.

That's an unusual, and good, story in several ways. I'm pleased to know you got your pistol back. I guess it's a bit more than just a pistol, to you. :)

Proof?

I think the story itself is the proof, Rosewood. I imagine that if I had the power to do such a good deed for this man, I would think the story is all the proof I need. Congratulations to Smithsrevenge and thanks to God!

I have a 6906 which I tried twice now to give to family members and it came back. Daughter replaced it with a Shield 9mm and gave it back, so I wanted to give it to my other daughter's husband. However, my SIL never took his firearms training class which I paid for, and in Maryland he was concerned that he lives right beside a school.

Recently, I watched a Tube about using a Scotchbrite pad to take off scratches. Now it looks great so I am carrying it again.

That is such a fantastic story. I can't imagine how it felt to see that thing in the case, after all those years. Congrats, my man!

People who aren't into guns, I guess, just don't understand the meaning they can hold. Hope it never leaves you again.

Also... love the 69XX guns. I have a 6904 which I'll never part with.

Thanks for sharing.

I wasn't questioning the proof, I was implying he must have had it already to get it back.

I am darn close to weeping as I write this reply. Damn fine story with a happy-ending! :D

Excellent story. I haven't carried mine for awhile - this inspires me to bring it out of the safe!

Hope the OP notified the PD his stolen gun had been recovered, & to remove the serial # from the "hot sheet". Around here, gun shops that take in pre owned weapons submit the serial #'s to the Sheriff's Dept who makes sure they're not stolen. GARY

Glad to read this. If it was me, I'd find out the shop owner's favorite restaurant/whiskey/cigar, etc. thank him.
