My Brother in Law built the rifles the hunters where using, .338 Lapua's.
In the uncut video it plays out a little better.
The PH lost control of the situation, he let the hunters get worked up and a little nervous. You can tell how nervous he is himself.
After the first round hits the lion, he should have had the hunter hit the cat again or the Ph should have shot it. In the uncut vid there is at least 10 seconds after the cat regains his feet before he charges. Once the lion sees the hunters and decides to charge the only way to stop it is to kill it.
The total lack of muzzle control during the charge makes me sick to my stomach, lucky at least one of those guys didn't get shot.
I've been guiding hunters in Alaska for nearly 20 years and my demeanor as a guide is directly correlated as to how my hunters perform under pressure.
If I'm excited the hunters get worked up. The best way for me to gaurantee a goat rope is to say "Shoot, shoot , hurry up and shoot!"
The only part of the situation that I can control is me and my emotions. If I tell the hunter "Hey, that's a good bear, you better shoot him, you've got plenty of time" things are more likely to work out.
The hunters always scare me worse than any other part of the hunt. Gun handling skills can never be taken for granted.
