Your buildings on fire comment reminds me that Marcus Licinius Crassus made a lot of his real estate money by hiring arsonists to burn buildings, which he'd then buy for a pennies on the dollar amount for the land. I suppose there's always been no limit to what some people will do in the name of free enterprise.
If you can't place Crassus, he was the Roman general who defeated the slave revolt led by Spartacus. But his business rep was in the uh, water closet.
