Woohoo! First post on the new and improved site. Thanks to everyone for their efforts.

I have a shot at a Corbin Bullet Swager. It uses spent 22LR cases and lead wire to make 55 grain, .224 open tip bullets. I've done a couple searches and come up with some info, but am soliciting opinions and experience here.

What do you all think?

Thanks for the info John. A couple follow up questions if I may?

1. How long does it take to produce a bullet? Or, maybe, do you do a bunch of each step before you move on to the next?

2. Any limitations on barrel twist and velocity?

Scroll down to the 'Swaging Forum' and go back through the threads. There are lots of threads, some w/pics, about 'Corbin',,, '22lr jackets',, etc..

Alot of experience there using the tools and you'll get plenty of opinions posted there about Corbin and a few other custom made outfits for the same purpose.

Expensive to get into w/new equiptment but with the rising price of componets alot of folks are considering it.

The hot topics right now are making center fire rifle jacketed bullets from easily gotten pistol brass. The brass becoming the jacket, adding a lead core, then swaging the two together in a set of dies to compress the core, size the diameter and shape the nose. Exactly the same idea as makeing the .224 bullets from 22LR brass. Alot of the people are making their own dies to do this and the info is also available on that site.

It's not a newly discovered technique but it's rapidly becoming popular again because of costs and politics.
