Cast bullets in M1 carbine update

I got so wrapped up in math that I forgot to mention that your post about cast bullet, 30 carbine is good information. Of all the different cartridges I have loaded over the years, I have never loaded 30 carbine. I own one and have shot it a lot but I have always used surplus ammo. I do know that others who fool around with cast bullets have occasional issues with the gas piston getting fouled. No big deal but it does require a little bit more maintenance. Good post.

I worked in a tool and die shop for 30 years where the word "tenth" always meant a tenth of a thousandth. That's the finest measurement on a micrometer. We never considered the actual meaning of the word. But then when working with carpenters, the word tenth never came up. Anything under an inch was always expressed in half, quarter eighth and sixteenth fractions never tenth.
