Picked this up last week at our local show. I am pretty happy with it and the condition but apparently the grips are not correct? Serial is C 13XX, or a very early production C series from 1948.

Look like gold medallion grips to me. I think they are from the 1911-1920 period.
The good news is they have some value. I would think you could trade them for some correct grips and maybe draw a little boot.
Here is a set on my old M&P that shipped in 1913.

And they look like this…..
(note the sharp edge at the upper front edge of the grip - later ones are smoother, more rounded).
(Oops! wiregrassguy got to it before me.)

Thanks, I have a large box of old grips bought years ago I think from the same seller and will have to look. He is the SIL of a now deceased old FFL and they always set up at our local show. I have bought a lot of stuff from them over the years. Off topic, but the last two shows I bought a total of 80 pounds of wheel weights from the SIL. The show before that it was a rough T/C Hawken.

If I don’t have the correct grips I may just put a T grip adaptor on it and enjoy shooting it, I really like the smooth old action and it rides nice in a Simply Rugged Pancake holster I have.
