Cost of New 10-5 in 1967??

I was recently going through my gun paperwork, and came across a receipt from a local gun dealer. The date on the receipt is June 27, 1967. The "item" purchased was $219.95. I was with my dad about that time when he purchased a new 10-5 from this dealer. I was 10 years old... This is the ONLY new gun I remember my dad buying. Could this be the original receipt from that 10-5? The receipt looks like an old cash register receipt, and has no description of any kind. I paid about the same amount for a new 19-4 in 1977 from the same dealer. BTW, the 10-5 is still in the family! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. I think that price was a little too high for a model 10 in 1967. When I came on the job in 1978, I paid $115 plus tax for a new 4" model 15 Combat Masterpiece at my department's revolver club at the range. Hopefully some other members will chime in. Again welcome & hang on to that model 10.

My 67 Gun Digest shows a M-10 for $70.00. A M-27 was 130 and a Python was 135. He bought something nice or more than 1.

Thanks, Max and Lou... I had a feeling $219 was a little high, since that was about what I paid 10 years later for Model 19. Now, I just have to figure out what Dad has been hiding all these years!

I have a M10-5 that sold new for $76.50. I think that must be a later price tag.

Pops has been holding out on you all these years! $220 in 1967 was serious money back then.

According to the inflation calculator, that's $1350 in todays money.

Armybass, that pic looks just like the M10 Dad bought. I remember going to the range with him as a kid and shooting it. Chad, Dad is long gone, but I can tell you he made quite a few purchases Mom never knew about... That man was a real character! Now, I just have to figure out what he was hiding all these years!
