Country boys only!

I have never used a gas pump like that.

I have never used a phone like this either...;)

Got one of those hangin' on the wall in the kitchen.:)

We had one of those wooden phones when I was a kid. Our number was 2 longs and a short. Of course when the phone rang everyone on the line picked up to listen in. When we got the plastic phones we still had a party line. If someone was on the line you had to wait until they were done talking to make your call. Also had the same problem with folks listening in.

Yes indeed! You are indeed a bona fide country boy. A Partyline with people listening in pretty well qualifies you.
A Partyline is a series type of event. Every time another party picked up, the voltage goes down, the volume goes down.
The city boys who are reading this are saying what the hell is he talking about?

I bet it's hanging right next to the ice box.:)
Nah, we went modern when we got electricity in 1949.

Got telephones in 1962. A bunch of ranchers went together and built 60 miles of lines to Ma Bell specs. We provided the material and labor. I repped for 3 ranches and climbed every pole on the line.

We sold the line to Ma Bell for $1.00. Every phone call we made until 2000 was a long distance call.

I knew a guy who lived in West Wyoming who did the same thing.
Sounds like it could've been exactly the same system.
He said the day that this phone was actually hooked up and working he had sold his ranch and he was moving. His name is Jim Jenkins.

My great grandfather owned a gas supply company in Little Rock a long time ago. Grandad always talked about him leaving the bowl full on Friday so he could drive all weekend. He's talked about when they made the swap to newer style pumps they broke those things by the hundreds in any way imaginable. Probably regrets that now!
