Well being in a hurry and never being ever to wait, i decided to try to install a spurred hammer on my brand new 3913 i just picked up.

First of all what tool do i need to remove the stirrup pin from the hammer and stirrup?

I ended up putting it back together for the time being but when i pull the slide back and bring it back to the resting position, the hammer is not cocked back. Did i overlook a step on re-assembly? I messed with it for 3 hours and couldnt figure it out.

Thanks

So ive disassembled the gun again and messed with it some more. Its obviously the sear not catching when pulling the slide back. What would cause it to catch and or not catch?

I know some of the experts have answers

Hammer installation

I recently installed a spurred hammer on my 3913 (not a TSW). I don't have detailed gunsmithing tech data, but proceeded on the advice given in this section of the Forum, plus looked at info available on the net. I took my time, and looked things over in the frame assy, since I'd had just got this pistol and felt it was well worth a detailed inspection. I also wrote up a written summary of what/how I did this job, along with some pics. If you're interested, send me a PM with your email address, and I'll send you a copy. There's a lot of similarity between this model and the 6904/6906 and other 39 series pistols in parts arrangements - so if you also have one these guns for comparison, it helps. There are illustrated parts drawings on the web, look at Midway, Numich, etc. In talking to S&W, they don't provide that info anymore to the general customer base - a lawyer driven decision, as they don't want to be seen as enabling us, unless we've attended the appropriate training (don't blame 'em on that one).

xav thanks, i figured it out with your pm. The sear was the right way, just on the wrong side of the spring. I appreciate your help!
